Solo Career (1968-2005)
Tony Croatto left Los TNT in 1967 and moved to Puerto Rico, where he married singer and actress Lillian Hurst. He adopted Puerto Rican culture and music as his own, and became known for his renditions of traditional songs such as "Lamento borincano", "Preciosa", "Nino Jesús", and "Mi árbol y yo". He also composed original songs that reflected his social and environmental concerns, such as "Yo habito una tierra luz", "Verde luz", and "Huellas". He collaborated with other artists such as Roy Brown, Zoraida Santiago, Danny Rivera, and Chucho Avellanet. He also hosted several television shows, such as El show de Tony Croatto, Tony y su gente, and Tony Croatto: Tiempo de amar. Some of his solo albums were:

In 1978, he received the Agüeybaná de Oro Award, the highest recognition given by the Puerto Rican Institute of Culture.
In 1980, he was named the Puerto Rican Singer of the Year by the Association of Art Critics of Puerto Rico.
In 1984, he was honored by the Senate of Puerto Rico for his artistic achievements and his promotion of Puerto Rican values.
In 1996, he starred in the musical film Milagro en Yauco, based on a true story of a miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary in a rural town. He played the role of Father José, the priest who witnessed the event.
In 2004, he participated in the comedy film Dios los cría 2, along with other Puerto Rican celebrities. He played himself in a cameo appearance.
In 2005, he was posthumously awarded the Paoli Award for Excellence in Music, one of the most prestigious awards in Puerto Rico.
