In my old house every room has been wall papered at some point. Several rooms had painted over wallpaper, not fun to remove! Only 3 rooms have wallpaper now. The dining room is fully papered, one wall in the kitchen, and one wall in a small bedroom.

Looking forward to see all your choices.

Is there any way to find out what the muted blue/grey wallpaper is in the beach house photograph with the white beamed ceiling. I have been agonizing over finding the right paper for my guest room and I think this is it!

Love your blog.

I do have some wallpapered rooms in my house. My kitchen and my bedroom hallway. They both are outdated and somewhat worn and need to be removed. I have not removed much wallpaper and I wonder what the best process for doing it is if the paper is not strippable. How have you done it, Jennifer? I am dying to get that old paper off my walls!

Victoria was our final stop the night before we arrived back in Seattle. We only had a few hours in this quaint town, but it was enough for me to fall thoroughly in love. We arrived in downtown Victoria just in time for golden hour, and were able to watch the sun slowly sink over the boats in the harbor. I mean, talk about perfection.

Wallpaper is such a personal choice and a big commitment. I love the idea of a totally custom option when nothing else feels right for a space! With that said, I will hand the mic to Sam and let her tell you all about her big project!

Two years later, my husband and I decided it was time to get our dining room in order! I started figuring out where the table would go, our rug, credenza, plants, etc., but I knew something was missing. I really wanted to put wallpaper on one of our curved walls and I knew it had to be a showstopper.

As an obsessive vintage shopper, I started scouring the depths of the Internet to find the right one. I ended up finding a gorgeous pink Mary Blair-esque wallpaper for my bedroom, but nothing quite right for the dining room.

The next step was measuring the height and width of my wall exactly. Not too hard except for the fact that I had to decide where I wanted the wallpaper to stop since our ceiling is curved. After picking the size and doing all my measurements, I ordered my wallpaper and had it in under two weeks.

Hi Elsie! I have an old sheet from my great grandparents. My mom passed it off to me when we were cleaning out my grandfathers home when he passed. I am interested in creating a wallpaper out of the sheet. Would you happen to have more info on the designer? Any help would be appreciated! ?

The idea of using wallpaper is awesome. Just consider the method. There are a variety of sites that print on demand, check them out for 1000s of designs available for purchase before taking work, replicating it and violating copyright laws.

Heyy, how did you do that. You have wallpaper and sweater in the same pattern. his is such a cute and unique idea! I was so pleased to hear that custom making your own wallpaper is easier than you thought. There have been so many times where I would see a pattern I love whether it be on a piece of clothing or something else and wished I could use that pattern for another project.

This is such a cute and unique idea! I was so pleased to hear that custom making your own wallpaper is easier than you thought. There have been so many times where I would see a pattern I love whether it be on a piece of clothing or something else and wished I could use that pattern for another project. Like you said, wallpaper is a big commitment, but I just might take that leap for one of my rooms, especially seeing how beautiful yours turned out! ?

This time around, I decided to try a fresh approach and instead of lining up and cutting each strip of wallpaper while it was on the wall, I laid the strips out on the floor, then I lined up the pattern and cut them while they were horizontal.

The best way to get a perfectly straight first piece of wallpaper is to start in a corner and measure out the width of your wallpaper minus one inch. You want there to be a slight overhang into the corner, but not too much (or else the wallpaper can pull away in the corner). Make a mark on your wall at that point, then use your level to help you draw a straight line all the way down the wall.

This was my first time hanging wallpaper all the way around the room, and I woke up one night a couple of days before I started in a panic as I realized it was almost impossible that the wallpaper would make it all the way around the room and end perfectly on a full sheet where the patterns lined up.

After spending 10 weeks researching, sampling, and testing wallpapers from nine brands in a range of patterns, we found three peel-and-stick wallpapers that you can apply with confidence and (relative) ease, no matter your style.

For this guide, I dove into recent scientific research, CDC recommendations, and industry standards on indoor air quality and materials found in wall coverings. I also interviewed Teresa McGrath and Nsilo Berry, both researchers at the Healthy Building Network. (HBN is a materials transparency organization for the architecture and construction industry. It shares information on building materials, and its database, the Pharos Project, received an award from the Environmental Protection Agency.) I also spoke with wallpaper manufacturers for the wallpapers we tested to inquire about the ordering process, lead times, application instructions, and clarifications on materials.

I also spoke with wallpaper experts in interior design: Kelly Finley, founder of Joy Street Design, an interior-design firm based in Oakland, California, and Shavonda Gardner, a designer who specializes in small homes.

Check your walls: Peel-and-stick wallpaper works only on non-textured walls. It does not work at all on textured drywall, including spray textures like popcorn and orange peel, brush textures like sand swirl and rosebud, or knife textures like knockdown and comb.

With these criteria in mind, we narrowed an initial list of 23 peel-and-stick wallpaper brands down to nine that we wanted to put to the test. We tested samples of each of the nine, putting them to an initial 48-hour stick-and-peel test. We immediately eliminated one candidate for quality and performance, and we moved on to test eight contenders.

To mimic the experience of installing wallpaper alone, we also called in full-size panels or rolls for each of the eight brands. We applied them in vertical sections in a hallway and the kitchen, and we left them up for a minimum of two weeks. After this mock install, we removed these sections and selected our picks.

The print quality on the samples we received was excellent, with crisp, fine lines and saturated colors. But tone did differ a bit from how it looked onscreen (which is why you should always order samples). There is a decent range of styles and color palettes to choose from, including truly small-scale prints (surprisingly uncommon for peel-and-stick wallpapers, which often reflect a bigger, bolder aesthetic).

Traditional or unpasted wallpaper comes without adhesive. It can be made from a variety of materials, including paper, fabric, and vinyl. To install it, you typically use a roller or brush to apply glue to a sheet of wallpaper. Then you hang the sheet on the wall and repeat.

Since peel-and-stick wallpaper does not require a wet adhesive (unlike traditional and some removable wallpapers), health concerns are mostly due to long-term exposure to ortho-phthalates (used to make PVC material flexible and pliable) and volatile organic compounds (or VOCs, usually from inks). 2351a5e196
