Digitalizing your design on CAD (Computer Aided Design)
The printing process turns a whole object into thousands of tiny little slices, then makes it from the bottom-up, slice by slice.
The supporting pieces are removed, the model is then sanded, primed and hand painted.

3D printing is the construction of a three dimensional objects from a digital format.
3D printing is done by building up the object layer by layer. Usually, 3D printers use plastic, because it is easier to use and cheaper.
With 3D printing, you can produce functional shapes, while using less material than normal manufacturing methods.

The first step in 3D printing something is to make it on a computer. People do this with CAD (Computer Aided Design) software or a 3D scanner.
To design models in CAD, people start with basic shapes, and build from that point. 3D scanners take lots of measurements of the object and automatically make a model on the computer.
CAD models are usually saved on computers as STL files. They are saved as lots of triangles, which saves space on the computer.
There are a lot of different ways that 3D printers work. There are also many different materials that can be used.
The printing process turns a whole object into thousands of tiny little slices, then makes it from the bottom-up, slice by slice. Those tiny layers stick together to form a solid object. Each layer can be very complex.
Typical layers are around 100 μm thick, or about one tenth the thickness of a human hair. Prints can take anywhere from less than an hour to many days.
After printing the model, it is sanded using grit sand paper to achieve a smooth finish without sanding lines.
The model is then primed it turns the 3D print into a professional product and makes the painting process effortless by creating a flawless final surface.
The final step is to paint the 3D print, it is usually hand painted, to get the details right.
3D printing is used to manufacture moulds for making jewelry, and even the jewelry itself.
3D printing has been used to print patient-specific implant and device for medical use. The hearing aid and dental industries are expected to be the biggest areas of future development using custom 3D printing technology.
3D printing has entered the world of clothing with fashion designers experimenting with 3D-printed shoes, and dresses.
3D printing is also used in making miniature figurines and toys.
This is a 3D printed house designed by TVASTA, alumni of IIT-Madras. It is a single-storey house, 600-sq ft. unit. It costs around 5 lakhs for your own 3D Printed home! This 3D-printed home is not just different but a lot quicker than conventional construction.
A Chinese company has used its giant 3D printer by rapidly constructing 10 houses in less than 24 hours. Built from predominantly recycled materials. Each small house takes very little labor to assemble. Winsun hopes to make them available for low income housing projects.
Strati is the world's first electric car to heavily utilize 3D-printing during the production process. The car took just 44 hours to print during the 2014 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago, Illinois.
Adidas' Futurecraft STRUNG is made with Ocean Waste and a 3D Printer, the production time is just 20 minutes. These shoes provide movement, stability, and comfort needs. At present, the STRUNG is just a prototype, but Adidas is aiming to develop a new series of these launching from 2022.
