Known issue 2: If you don't allow your system to be tested to automatically detect the optimal settings for the screensaver during installation, you may get a "Runtime Error" when the screensaver attempts to run. You will need to click the "Test my system for optimal settings" button under the "Video" tab of the screensaver's settings panel to resolve this.

@Robin, I have the same annoyance. The idea being, Lock your Mac, but let the screensaver run while it is locked. This does not defeat the purpose of security (because the Mac is still locked). In fact, it's actually more secure than just letting your screensaver run while the Mac is unlocked. In any case, hoping Apple fixes this in a later update. Seems like the only way to have all the cool new screeners running is to leave your Mac unlocked, which IS a security issue.

I click Lock Screen and the screensaver comes on, but the screen goes to black too quickly. I want the screensaver to keep running while I'm doing something else because it's pretty and I want to see the dolphins swimming, not a black screen.

That works when I let the display go to screensaver due to inactivity, but if I click Lock Screen, it won't stay up. I can change the go to screensaver to one minute, which is pretty good, but I'd like to be able to lock down my screen as soon as I get up to go someplace, and have the screensaver running when I get back.

You may be correct. It may be that Apple never intended to allow people to lock their screen and let the screensaver run. Seems like an odd restriction, but maybe that is actually how they meant for it to work.

The new screensavers showcase marine life and ecosystems, ranging from dolphins off the coast of Costa Rica to coral reefs in the Red Sea near Egypt. Other additions display moon jellyfish off the coast of Alaska, waves breaking on the shores of Tahiti, golden cownose rays off the coast of Mexico, and more.

Apple TV displays a screensaver after it has been idle for a short period. To change the number of minutes before a screensaver starts, go to Settings > General > Screen Saver and select Start After. You can also start a screensaver at any time by pressing the Menu button on the Siri Remote while on the tvOS home screen.

A tap on the Siri Remote provides information on where a screensaver was filmed, while a swipe left or right will change the location of the screensaver that is displayed if multiples have been downloaded.

New screensavers can be downloaded daily, weekly, or monthly via Settings > General > Screen Saver > Download New Video. While it is not possible to choose a specific screensaver on the Apple TV, 9to5Mac's Benjamin Mayo maintains a website that showcases all of the available scenes.

I would but the app is described as - Aquatic Life - Developed by: Roku.

So the developer is "Roku" - thus my dilemma and why I tried this avenue.

I don't know how to contact the Roku developers directly for this screensaver app.

Trying the feedback option for the app in the Roku channel store only gives options for reporting specific problems. Seems there is no way to contact Roku directly - only users to users and hopefully a Roku developer that may sometimes scan the forums. That is why I put the post in the Roku Developer Program section. I do appreciate your help - Thanks

Welles

Roku likely had an agreement to customize the screensaver, compiled for Roku and published by Roku as an official Roku screensaver. That is why it lists Roku as the developer. Roku is not the actual developer and likely would not be able to make the requested changes.

Great find Matt.

Marine Aquarium at SereneScreen.com. Apparently the author's name is Jim Sachs.

I submitted a support request through the website first thanking him for the great screensaver and then describing the Roku suggestion. Don't know what freedom he has remaining to make any changes the the Roku version but who knows. I'll let you guys know if I get a response. Welles...

I then uninstalled the Mate DE (but not every last vestige of Mate-related stuff; I don't know what Mint includes in the Mate bundle, and didn't want to leave important holes). I also removed redundant and unneeded apps, and added a few packages, including Xscreensaver.

I've listed the exhaustive diagnostics at the end. I followed up on many dozens of Google hits on disabling screen locking in KDE, Kubuntu, and Mint, from current versions to old ones, and ruled out any issue with Xscreensaver or the normal screen locker settings and controls. Basically, the installation has no settings, anywhere, related to an inactivity-based screen locker, and no dedicated, recognizable screen locker software. The issue points to this: 0852c4b9a8
