In the event of power failure, or in case of unrecoverable issue, the metra may be shut down and restarted using the following protocol.
1. Restore power to the metra. Check that the mains power cable is correctly fitted into the power outlet (socket) and power inlet (metra tower), and that mains power switch is in on position.
2. Swing transparent cap and press green power button to start the metra. Confirm charging status by checking GUI.
3. Terumo CDI500 monitor will perform diagnostic checks and restart in 40 seconds.
4. Using the arrow keys, select “Arterial Blood Gases” and press the green tick button to confirm
5. Use the arrow keys to select ‘Operate’ and press the green tick button to confirm.
6. Confirm that Terumo monitor displays blood gas parameters
7. Check GUI screen to ensure that error messages 170 and 190 have cleared.
8. Press ‘Start Perfusion’ button on control panel to restart perfusion.
Check GUI to confirm that pump has successfully started, that perfusate flow is recorded, and device enters ‘liver on-board’ mode.
WARNING: In the event of power failure perfusate flow will cease. The decision to transplant must be made by the surgeon.
