This course offers a practical exploration of small-scale entrepreneurship, emphasizing strategies for launching and testing a business idea with minimal financial resources. Students will develop a product or service concept, conduct market research, design marketing materials, and engage in real-world market validation through pre-sales, crowdfunding, or targeted online advertising.
A key experiential component of the course is the field trip to Yiwu’s Small Merchandise Market, providing direct exposure to supply chain operations, market dynamics, and vendor negotiation. Drawing on these insights, students will refine their product or service offering and implement a lean marketing funnel to measure customer interest.
This course aims to equip students with practical entrepreneurial skills that can be applied immediately in low-budget business contexts. By the end of the semester, students will have gained firsthand experience in moving a venture from idea to tested market viability.
