In today's rapidly evolving entertainment landscape, immersive theater experiences have emerged as a powerful medium for storytelling and audience engagement. Recognizing the growing importance of interactive and participatory performances in both artistic expression and commercial entertainment, this course guides students through the process of conceptualizing and developing a short immersive performance experience, emphasizing creativity, collaboration, and practical application.
Throughout the course, students will work collaboratively to create a 15-minute immersive performance. Students will engage in key aspects of the creative process, including storytelling, basic set design, audience interaction, and performance techniques specific to immersive theater. The learning experience will be enriched by workshops led by experienced professionals and attendance at a professional immersive performance in Shanghai. This hands-on approach not only builds tangible skills in immersive performance creation but also fosters creativity, adaptability, and teamwork. The course provides a supportive environment for students to experiment with new forms of storytelling and audience interaction, fostering skills that are valuable in various creative fields.
