If you want maximum aerodynamic efficiency and a sleek, low-profile look specifically for city driving, choose 212 Main 11; if you need massive storage volume and dual-side access for family trips or heavy gear, choose Dvasovio Black Hard Shell.
• 212 Main 11: Offers a streamlined wedge design that cuts through wind efficiently but sacrifices interior space with only 11 cubic feet of capacity. Best for the solo driver or couple prioritizing fuel economy and style over hauling power.
• Ideal for families or adventurers who need to pack everything in one go.
The 212 Main 11 Cu. ft. 660 Series Wedge Roof Cargo Box is built for those who value form as much as function. Its defining characteristic is the wedge roof design, which creates a distinctively low profile compared to bulkier alternatives. This shape isn't just about aesthetics; it fundamentally changes how air flows over your vehicle. When you are navigating tight urban streets, merging onto busy highways, or simply trying to minimize drag while commuting, this box slices through the air with minimal fuss. The gloss black finish adds a touch of sophistication, making it look like an integrated part of the car rather than an afterthought bolted on top.
However, you must accept the trade-off of volume. At 11 cubic feet, this unit is compact. It is not designed for moving furniture, carrying four large suitcases, or storing a full set of winter tires. Instead, it shines when you need to secure a few bags of golf clubs, a weekend's worth of camping gear for two people, or extra luggage for a short getaway. If your primary use case involves daily city driving where you rarely carry more than a couple of medium-sized items, this smaller footprint keeps your center of gravity lower and reduces the visual bulk of your vehicle.
You should skip this option if you have a large family or frequently embark on long road trips requiring extensive packing. The limited internal dimensions mean you will hit the capacity wall very quickly. Furthermore, while the wedge shape is great for airflow, it often results in a narrower opening width compared to clamshell designs, which can make loading awkwardly shaped items slightly more difficult. This product fits the buyer who wants a reliable, weather-resistant storage solution that doesn't dominate their vehicle's silhouette.

The Dvasovio Black Hard Shell Roof Cargo Carrier is a powerhouse designed for utility and sheer capacity. Whether you are transporting bulky sports equipment, multiple sets of skis, or enough luggage for a cross-country family vacation, this unit provides the room you need without feeling cramped. The physical dimensions of 72.83 inches in length and 34.25 inches in width create a true cargo platform that feels like an extension of your trunk.
One of the standout features here is the wide double-side opening. Unlike many competitors that require you to reach over the entire width or struggle with a single narrow door, the Dvasovio opens 15.8 inches wide on both sides. This allows you to access the front and back of the box simultaneously from either side of the vehicle. Strong support arms hold the lid securely open, meaning you can pack or unpack without holding the heavy door yourself. This is a game-changer when you are standing in the rain or snow trying to get gear organized before a trip.
This carrier is perfect for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who needs to move significant amounts of stuff. The construction utilizes rugged ABS and PMMA materials, ensuring durability against impact and harsh weather conditions. The glossy black finish resists dust and debris, keeping your belongings safe inside. You will need strong roof racks to handle this dynamic load, and you must account for the increased height and width when parking in garages or passing under low bridges.
• Best for city driving and aerodynamics → 212 Main 11. The wedge roof design minimizes wind noise and drag, making it the superior choice for frequent urban commuting where fuel efficiency matters.
• Best for total storage volume → Dvasovio Black Hard Shell. With 21 cubic feet versus 11, you get nearly double the space, allowing you to pack twice as much gear.
• Best for heavy loads → Dvasovio Black Hard Shell.
• Best for easy loading → Dvasovio Black Hard Shell. The dual-sided 15.8-inch openings and self-holding lids make loading significantly faster and less physically demanding.
• Best for aesthetic integration → 212 Main 11. Its low, tapered profile looks more integrated and less "boxy" on the roof of a sedan or crossover.
• Best for durability and weather protection → Dvasovio Black Hard Shell. The thick ABS and PMMA hard shell construction offers robust protection for valuable items during long hauls.
• Best for tool-free setup → Both. Both units feature tool-free quick installation systems compatible with round, square, and aerodynamic bars, though the Dvasovio requires handling a heavier unit during mounting.
• Best for security → Dvasovio Black Hard Shell. While both likely offer locking mechanisms, the Dvasovio explicitly details a key system that prevents removal until all points are fully closed, adding peace of mind for high-value cargo.
I would buy the Dvasovio Black Hard Shell for my own personal use because the versatility of having 21 cubic feet of space and the convenience of dual-side access outweighs the minor aerodynamic benefits of the smaller wedge design. While the 212 Main 11 is excellent for a sleek, low-drag city commuter, I find the Dvasovio's functional advantages make it the smarter investment for anyone who actually needs to transport substantial cargo. It is the clear winner for anyone prioritizing utility and ease of use over pure aerodynamics.
While it fits most vehicles with roof rails, its 72.83-inch length and 34.25-inch width require checking your specific vehicle's roof span and garage clearance before purchasing, especially for smaller sedans.
The 212 Main 11 features a wedge design intended to reduce wind resistance and noise, making it quieter at highway speeds compared to the boxier, larger profile of the Dvasovio model.
Yes, both products utilize tool-free quick installation systems that allow for fast setup on round, square, and aerodynamic roof bars without needing additional hardware.
The Dvasovio includes a specific locking system where keys can only be removed when all locking points are fully closed, providing a dedicated layer of security for your stored items.
