Help us reach our first fundraising goal of $6,000 by the end of May 2026!

A new scholarship has been created by alumni of the philosophy department. The WWU Philosophy Alumni Scholarship provides alumni with an opportunity to support current WWU philosophy students, demonstrates that we care about and believe in their future success, and creates an ongoing opportunity to build meaningful connections within the alumni network.

The idea for this scholarship was sparked during the alumni conference held last Spring at Western. The conference highlighted alumni who have been successful, both in and out of philosophy. The caliber and quality of engagement from current students was incredibly impressive. The conference was a powerful reminder that WWU philosophy is special.

select the button that says "Search for a different fund", search for and select "WWU Philosophy Alumni Scholarship", select or fill-in the amount you’d like to contribute and follow the prompts to make your donation. 

The first 5 years of this scholarship are critical. If the alumni, collectively, are able to contribute $6k per year for 5 years, that will guarantee a $1k scholarship per year, beginning in 26/27. Assuming we reach our fundraising target, this scholarship will continue to be disbursed for as long as the philosophy department exists. Any additional amount we can raise over $6k per year, the larger or more plentiful the annual scholarship(s) will be.

We are all in very different places in our careers and doing really different work for different levels of pay. As such, the ask is very open. If you are able to contribute, any amount you donate will make a meaningful difference! Every contribution will help us reach our goal. And please know that any amount you donate will help ensure that WWU Philosophy remains strong and that current students feel tangibly supported by the alumni.
