Hi! My name is An, and I am an incoming freshman at Pius X highschool in Lincoln, NE. I love writing and am working on my very first novel. I enjoy cooking, crocheting, writing (obviously), and playing piano, violin, and flute. In my spare time, I play pickleball and volleyball with my friends and family, or bike on the various trails scattered around Lincoln. Though, there isn't that much spare time left- I spend several hours a week at the pool with my swim team or by myself- and don't you DARE say that swimming isn't a sport. It is very much a sport, and if you don't agree, we can't be friends. Just kidding :).

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Who is the fairest of them all?

I, with skin so pale and light

Am the most beautiful day and night

Snow White is gone, shall be no more

Discarding her was just a chore

From north to south, east to west,

I alone am the best

I roam the grassy shrubs

Trod over rocks, and dirt, and creeks

I sniff the cool breeze

Warmer than it should be

A fiery ball of flames

Out too early in the year

I swelter under the sun

Collapsing around me

My friends

My family

Out into the plains he goes

Arrows whizz

Mammoths fall

We will eat well tonight

I used to roam the grassy shrubs

No longer cold and icy, but warm and arid

Now I collapse alongside my friends

My family

Hunting season has arrived

Now my pelt is stripped away

Now my tusks are ripped from my face

Now all that’s left are the bones

To be buried in the dirt

To be forgotten for years and years and years

Eroded

Unremembered

I roam the grassy shrubs

Spring has arrived
