Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who is the fairest of them all?
I, with skin so pale and light
Am the most beautiful day and night
Snow White is gone, shall be no more
Discarding her was just a chore
From north to south, east to west,
I alone am the best
My fair lady, do beware
At your reflection you always stare
Know that for a face so nice
You must be willing to pay the price
Twice before you’ve tried to kill
The warmth inside you dwindles still
To be the fairest of them all
May just end up leading to your downfall
If she’s not dead, she soon shall be
From this weight I will be free
Snow White this, Snow White that
How can one girl be such a rat? Her skin so white shall decompose
Of her beauty I will dispose
Twice before she’s evaded death
But today- today she takes her last breath
I roam the grassy shrubs
Trod over rocks, and dirt, and creeks
I sniff the cool breeze
Warmer than it should be
A fiery ball of flames
Out too early in the year
I swelter under the sun
Collapsing around me
My friends
My family
I roam the grassy shrubs
Trod over rocks, and dirt, and creeks
I sniff the cool breeze
It’s warming up
Hunting season has arrived
Father’s bow slung over his shoulder
Out into the plains he goes
Arrows whizz
Mammoths fall
We will eat well tonight
I used to roam the grassy shrubs
I used to tread over rocks, and dirt, and creeks
I used to sniff the cool breeze
No longer cold and icy, but warm and arid
Now I collapse alongside my friends
My family
Hunting season has arrived
Now my pelt is stripped away
Now my tusks are ripped from my face
Now all that’s left are the bones
To be buried in the dirt
To be forgotten for years and years and years
Preserved
Eroded
Unremembered
I roam the grassy shrubs
Trod over rocks, and dirt, and creeks
I sniff the warm breeze
Spring has arrived
Father’s bow hung over the fire
The mammoths are no more
He doesn’t go out to the plains
No arrows whizz
No more mammoths fall to the ground
We won’t eat well tonight
Not for months to come
Will the mammoths come back, I ask
Father solemnly shakes his head
No, it says
