2023 Oceania Zonal Chess Championships
Chess Victoria is pleased to announce that the 2023 Oceania Zone 3.6 Zonal Chess Championships will be held in Melbourne from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th January 2023 .

The prestigious FIDE World Championship qualifying competition is open to players from the Oceania Zone Federations (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Island, Guam, Nauru, Fiji, Palau).
There will be separate Open and Women’s Tournaments.
Both being 9 round Swiss events.
Rate of Play: 90 min. / player / game plus 30 sec. per move from move one. Forfeiture time: 30 minutes from start of round.
Entry Requirements: Players must be a member of a participating federation. Rating requirements for AUS players: above ACF 1000 or FIDE 1000. AUS Players below this rating will be placed on a waitlist and may be allowed to enter based on entry numbers. Players from other federations must have a FIDE ID (entries not restricted by rating)
The Australian Oceania Zonal tournament will be officially open by the Hon. Steve Dimopoulos MP Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events and Minister for Creative Industries.
