Yumi received her B.S. degree in Applied Chemistry from National Chiayi University in 2020. After getting her B.S. degree, she then joined NYCU Department of Biological Science and Technology in 2020 where she worked with Professor Ethan I. Lan (Professor of Department of Biological Science and Technology of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University) on the development of microbial cell factory for lactate production from methanol.

隨著工業快速發展和石油資源枯竭,人們開始尋找替代燃料和化學製品的來源。甲醇是一種重要的非食品原料,具有成熟的生產技術和廣泛的來源,被認為是一種可能的替代碳源。利用可天然將甲醇作為單碳源生長的嗜甲醇微生物進行生物轉換,是將甲醇轉化為有價值的化學品的平台。本研究選擇乳酸作為目標,它是一種常見的有機酸,廣泛應用於食品、醫藥、化妝品和化工行業。乳酸同時擁有羧酸基和羥基,也使其成為許多有機合成工業和聚合物中的合成中間體,具有替代石油衍生聚合物的潛力。然而,微生物生產乳酸主要依賴於醣基轉化,這將與人類的食物競爭。因此,本研究利用甲醇作為生產乳酸的替代物。通過扭脫甲基桿菌AM1 的代謝工程技術,我們成功地以甲醇作為單碳源生產出乳酸,提供了一條從甲醇生產乳酸的途徑。
