前言
2022年仍是充滿挑戰的一年，既然前路未明，回首歷史也許是我們現在能夠做的。影展今年以多部電影呈現德國歷史上最重要的一段時期：二戰爆發後到東西德統一。讓觀眾透過電影，親身走一回這段歷史，從平民日常生活，或特殊人物的處境，在這段曾經漫長又黑暗的歲月當中，看德國人如何努力地活著。
影展以「再見」作為首尾呼應，開幕電影是榮獲德國影評人協會大獎 – 最佳兒童電影的《再見的一天》，以孩子的視角見證東西德統一時刻；閉幕電影《再見列寧！》則以幽默的方式呈現同樣的歷史，當年橫掃德國奧斯卡9項大獎；而德國新作品選材上，則以同性戀者、文學大師、政權服務者及女性平民等故事，涵蓋不同地位階層，深入並全面地體會權力的無所不在以及當下人物的掙扎與行動。
多部影片在國際影展上獲獎無數，其中兩部與德語文學相關的電影《心陷棋局》及《鐵幕下的筆羈》在香港上映時備受注目。
演員專題及東德電影特別放映
今屆影展澳門站有幸取得德國影帝法蘭茲羅戈斯基 (Franz Rogowski) 主演的最新力作《羈不住的自由》的首映，該片去年不僅在康城影展獲獎，更被選為奧斯卡最佳國際電影15強。這位目前歐洲最炙手可熱的演員在這部電影中驚人的演技，演活一名深受迫害但仍耀眼的同性戀者。法蘭茲與德國當代名導基斯頓柏索(Christian Petzold)及柏林、歐洲電影節影后寶拉貝爾（Paula Beer），更是鐵三角組合，他們的兩部作品 -《過境情謎》及《水漾的女人》皆以當代故事連結歷史，呈現詮釋過去的新維度，也同時反映當代德國社會面貌。
「打破禁忌 - 東德社會批判電影」專題
適逢德國電影股份公司（DEFA）75週年，影展精選兩部講述弱勢族群為對象的東德電影：《出櫃宣言》是東德第一部也是唯一一部公開描寫同性戀主題的劇情片；《單車》是東德電影歷史上極少見的女性故事書寫。今年德國影展可以說是從古到今，多元角度深入認識德國二戰後的歷史專題。

借用褚威格的名言來開始第七屆「德國電影節-澳門站」，讓我們一起走在這段滿途荊棘的路上，共同向那個群星閃耀的時刻前行。

Foreword
2022 is still a challenging year with uncertainties, looking back into history might be the best we can do now. This year, the festival presents several films of the most important period in German history: after the end of World War II to the reunification of East and West Germany. Let the audience walk through this history through the film, from the daily life of ordinary people, or the situation of special people, to see how the Germans worked hard to live in this once long and dark time.
The film festival echoes "Goodbye" at the beginning and the end. The opening film is the German Film Critics Association Award - Best Children's Film "Goodbye Day", which witnesses the moment of German reunification from the perspective of a child. The closing film "Goodbye Lenin!" ” presents the same history in a humorous way, and swept 9 German Oscar awards that year. While the selection of new German works, with stories of homosexuals, literary masters, political servants, female civilians, etc., cover different status strata, in-depth and comprehensively. Experience the omnipresence of power and the struggles and actions of characters. A number of films have won numerous awards at international film festivals. Among them, two films related to German literature, "The Royal Game " and "Dear Thomas", have attracted much attention when they were released in Hong Kong.
Actor Special and Special Screening of East German Films
This year's KINO Macao is fortunate to have the premiere of the latest masterpiece “Great Freedom” starring German actor Franz Rogowski. This film not only won an award at the Cannes Film Festival last year, but was also selected as an Oscar Top 15 Best International Films. This hottest actor in Europe at the moment has an amazing performance in this film, playing a persecuted but still shining gay man. Franz and the German contemporary famous director Christian Petzold and Berlin and European Film Festival actress Paula Beer, it is an iron triangle combination, their two works - "Transit" And "Undine" both connect history with contemporary stories, present a new dimension to interpret the past, and at the same time reflect the contemporary German society.
To mark the 75th anniversary of German Film Corporation (DEFA),
a film series “BROKEN TABOOS - Socially Critical Filmmaking in The GDR”
has been curated.
KINO Macao 2022 has selected two East German films about disadvantaged groups - "Coming Out" is the first and the only feature film that publicly depicts the theme of homosexuality. "The Bicycle" is a rare female story in the history of East German films. This year's KINO Macao demonstrates a diverse and in-depth understanding of Germany's post-World War II historical stories.

East Germany, 1989. Summertime. No one knows the Iron Curtain is about to fall. Twelve-year-old Fritzi lovingly takes care of her best friend Sophie’s little dog Sputnik, while Sophie’s family is on summer vacation in Hungary. When school starts again in fall, however, Sophie doesn‘t come back. Fritzi has to help Sputnik find Sophie. By chance, Fritzi stumbles into a demonstration and commits to changing their country for the better….

德國影帝法蘭茲羅戈斯基(Franz Rogowski) 主演的《羈不住的自由》去年不僅獲康城影展「一種注目」評審團獎，該片今年更被選為奧斯卡最佳國際電影15強，國際影評稱其演出達致另一高峰。電影中法蘭茲演活被社會遺棄羞辱的男同性戀者，在長達123年同性戀者會因為「刑法典第175條」而成為罪犯的社會下，他是如何活出自己的生命。這次放映更是港澳首映。
被形容為「年輕版瓦昆菲尼克斯」的法蘭茲羅戈斯基(Franz Rogowski)生於1986年，16歲時離家出走，曾在瑞士小丑學校學習技法一年後搬到柏林，以擔任舞者與街頭音樂家維生。銀幕處女作是《Frontalwatte》(2011) ，後憑電影《愛情五分熟》(Love Steaks, 2013) 勇奪「慕尼黑國際影展」影帝大獎。2015年，他因演出一鏡到底的《維多莉亞》(Victoria) 而廣受矚目，續後，法蘭茲與多位國際級名導演合作而受到國際矚目，在名導麥克漢內克（Michel Haneke) 作品《幸福結局》(Happy End, 2017 ) 中與法國影后伊莎貝雨蓓(Isabelle Huppert) 合作；並被康城金棕櫚獎導演泰倫馬力克（Terrence Malick) 欽點演出《隱藏的生活》(A Hidden Life, 2018)。同年，他以電影《賣場華爾滋》(In The Aislses)榮登德國電影獎影帝，因他出色表現，獲選為該年柏林影展「年度歐洲之星」。

"Great Freedom" starring German actor Franz Rogowski not only won the "Un Certain Regard" Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival last year, but also entered the Oscar for Best International Film Top 15 this year. Praised by the film critics saying his performance has reached another peak. In the film, Franz plays a gay man who has been abandoned and humiliated by society. For 123 years in Germany, homosexuals will be criminals and sentenced to high sentences because of Article 175 of the Penal Code.
Franz Rogowski, born in 1986, left home at the age of 16 after a conflict with his mother. He studied techniques at a Swiss clown school for a year and moved to Berlin to make a living as a dancer and street musician . He made his screen debut in the lead role in Frontalwatte (2011). Later, he won the Best Actor Award at the Munich International Film Festival with the film “Love Steaks” (2013). In 2015, he gained prominence for his one-shot "Victoria," which won the Silver Bear in Berlin and six German Film Awards, and has been described as a "young Joaquin Phoenix". Afterwards, Franz's film contracts continued and his cooperation with a number of international famous directors attracted international attention. Franz and the legendary actress Isabelle Huppert played in the famous director Michel Haneke's "Happy End" (2017); and was selected by Cannes Palme d'Or director Terrence Malick for “A Hidden Life” (2018). In the same year, he won the Best Actor at the German Film Awards for his film "In The Aisles" and was selected as the "European Star of the Year" at the Berlin Film Festival for his outstanding performance.
Franz has collaborated with Christian Petzold, who has been hailed as the most talented German director by the media. Their first collaboration Transit (2018) wanders between fantasy and reality. Received the Outstanding Contribution Award at the German Film Awards. The second collaboration, "Undine," won the Prix FIPRESC Award at the Berlin Film Festival. Franz plays an engineering diver in the film, who falls in love with Urban Development Bureau tour guide Wendine (Paula Beer) because of her keenness to watch exhibitions, but accidentally gets involved in a love that is inseparable between magic and reality.
This time, Franz's latest masterpiece "Great Freedom" premiered in Hong Kong and Macau, and the "KINO German Film Festival - Macau" seizes this opportunity to bring local film buffs and audience the two heavyweight works - "Transit" and "Undine", the best collaborations of Franz, Christian Petzold and Paula Beer, who won the Best Actress at both the Berlinale and European Film Festival.

因為無法放棄做自己，漢斯出獄後不久，再因同性戀行為入獄，高牆與電網成了他人生永無止盡的循環。當他與維多在獄中再次相遇時，這兩個頻遭社會遺棄羞辱的男人，漸漸發展出一種無法被定義的愛...... 就在此時，德國宣布廢除175條款......

In post-war Germany, Hans (Franz Rogowski), a gay man, is caught in a continuous cycle of surveillance and incarceration as a result of paragraph 175, a law which criminalises homosexuality. After being ‘liberated’ by the Allied forces in 1945, Hans is transferred directly from a concentration camp to prison to finish out his sentence. There, he develops an unlikely bond with his cellmate Viktor (Georg Friedrich), a convicted murder.
As Hans returns to prison again and again over a period of three decades, a relationship that begins with revulsion blossoms into something far more tender. Winner of the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes, and anchored by an exceptional performance from Franz Rogowski, Sebastian Meise’s Great Freedom is a searing depiction of love in the face of injustice.

The German troops are just outside Paris. Georg escapes to Marseille at the last moment. His luggage contains the legacy of a writer named Weidel. But when Georg meets the mysterious Marie, his plans change… Berlinale Silver Bear-winning director Petzold (Phoenix) transposes the characters from Anna Seghers’eponymous novel – written during the renowned author’s wartime exile – to contemporary Marseille, where refugees from the past and present co-exist, and where their stories combine to create one eternal transit space.

Undine (Paula Beer) works in Berlin as a historian and guide to the city‘s development. She has a small apartment at Alexanderplatz, a master‘s degree in history, and a freelance contract. But underneath the appearance of her modern city life lurks an old myth: if the man Undine loves betrays her, she has to kill him and return to the water she once came from. So when her lover Johannes (Jacob Matschenz) leaves her for another woman, Undine thinks she has no choice – until in the moment of betrayal, she meets Christoph (Franz Rogowski), an industrial diver, and unexpectedly falls for him. This is a new, happy and innocent love filled with curiosity and trust. But when Christoph starts to feel that Undine is running away from something, she has to face her curse once and for all. She doesn‘t want to lose this love.

德國電影股份公司 (Deutsche Film AG) （縮寫為DEFA），於 75 年前在波茨坦-巴貝爾斯貝格成立。東西德統一時，它已經製作了約700部劇情片，約2500部紀錄片和短片，以及950部動畫電影。 現今德國的所有電影產出都由 DEFA 基金會管理。今屆「德國電影節-澳門站」適逢DEFA75週年的「打破禁忌 - 東德社會批判電影」專題放映，精選兩部講述社會弱勢族群為對象的東德電影給澳門觀眾。這些重要的當代電影文獻，讓我們能夠深入了解東德的生活。
Deutsche Film AG (DEFA) was founded 75 years ago in Potsdam-Babelsberg. By the time of reunification, it had produced some 700 feature films, around 2,500 documentaries and short films, and 950 animated films. Today, the entire film output of the GDR is administered by the DEFA Foundation. To mark the 75th anniversary, a film series “BROKEN TABOOS - SOCIALLY CRITICAL FILMMAKING IN THE GDR” has curated. KINO Macao 2022 has selected two from it for Macao audience’ appreciation. As important contemporary documents, these films allow us today to gain an insight into life in the GDR.

受人愛戴的教師菲利普與朝夕相處的女同事互生情愫成為戀人，但當他重遇昔日發生過關係的男性友人時，菲利普一直壓抑著的同性慾望開始變得蠢蠢欲動。他邂逅另一名男子，並迅速代入愛河。菲利普陷入了與女同事與男子之間的愛中，逼使他去正視自己的性取向和內心。
作為東德第一部也是唯一一部公開處理同性戀主題的劇情片，《出櫃宣言》在 DEFA 電影史上佔有特殊地位。電影於 1989 年 11 月 9 日在東柏林首映，引起熱烈的回響，當晚更連續放映兩次。如果不是同一時間正發生另一舉世聞名的事（東西德統一的時刻！），相信這部電影會引起更大的轟動。
Philipp Klarmann, an ambitious teacher, enjoys popularity at his school. His colleague Tanja falls in love with him and they become a couple. But when Philipp meets his old school friend with whom he once had a relationship, the young teacher is confronted with his repressed homosexuality. He then meets Matthias and they fall in love. Philipp is faced with a mounting emotional conflict as he tries to maintain both his relationship with Tanja and his relationship with Matthias. A painful process of self-recognition begins for Philipp, leading to his open acknowledgment of his homosexuality.

東德版的《單車失竊記》，可是全片裡卻沒有真正的小偷。
工人蘇珊獨自撫養女兒勉強度日，她漸漸對工作生厭，對生活不滿，而唯有女兒和工程師托馬斯，讓她支撐下去。但女兒生病，加上遲遲未能找到新工作，經濟陷入窘困，她決定鋌而走險，上報她的單車被偷，騙取保險金。但當騙局被揭破，她面臨起訴，托馬斯知道真相後，他的反應讓蘇珊終於明白，她的人生，只有她自己才能改變。
這部電影在當時的東德非常不受歡迎，僅因為描寫的是犯罪的單身女性。然而，在西德女性主義圈子中，卻獲得了極大的認可。尤其它對1980年東德女性生活寫實的罕見女性視角，《單車》是當今罕見的電影歷史文獻。
An unskilled worker raising her child on her own, Susanne barely manages to get by. Her dissatisfaction increases when she meets the successful engineer, Thomas. She gives up her job, gets into financial difficulties and reports her bicycle stolen in order to collect the insurance money. When the fraud is discovered, she is threatened with a lawsuit. Thomas, who knows nothing of the incident, stands by Susanne in her distress. But when she admits the offence and the impending trial to him, he reacts with incomprehension. Susanne is taken aback. No longer able to bear the relationship, she becomes determined to turn her life around.

亞利的媽媽是東德優秀的社會主義份子，她相信「共產黨能讓世界更美好」。但在目賭亞利參與反政府的集會中被捕，媽媽嚇得心臟病發陷入昏迷。當她在八個月後醒來，心臟極為脆弱，禁不起任何驚嚇。亞利非常頭痛，要是媽媽知道柏林圍牆倒了、世界變天了，那她肯定活不了……亞利唯有翻出共產時代的窗簾，逼迫姊姊穿上舊衣，把家裡的時間停格在過去，讓母親以為她的世界從未改變。亞利的「美麗謊言」能夠維持多久呢？
這部在2003年柏林影展被選為「最佳歐洲電影」的溫馨喜劇，透過兩代人在見證東西德統一的當下，透視小人物在政局社會改變下的複雜心理。
Residing in East Berlin in 1989, Christiane firmly believes that socialism could change the world for the better, but his son Alex gets arrested in an anti-government rally that demands the fall of the Berlin Wall. Having learnt of the news, Christiane gets a heart attack and falls into a coma. After Alex has returned home while his mother is unconscious, the Wall falls and capitalism arrives. Because the doctor warns of the possible lethal consequence of stimulating Christiane, Alex and his cohorts mobilise their imagination to reconstruct a world around Christiane to make her believe that the GDR still exists.
