2017 Philosophers' Cocoon Philosophy Conference
The 5th Annual Philosophers' Cocoon Philosophy Conference (PCPC)
VENUE: The University of Tampa
October 14-15, 2017
Organizer/Contact: Marcus Arvan
About the Conference
This conference, associated with The Philosophers' Cocoon, aims to provide early-career philosophers a constructive forum to discuss their work. It will be unique in several respects:
- Although attendance is open to all, paper presenters will be early-career philosophers (graduate students, post-docs, tenure-track Assistant Professors, etc.)
- Although commentators and audience members are encouraged to present objections, constructive criticism (raising objections but also offering and discussing possible solutions) will be a guiding theme of the conference.
- Due to the kinds of travel-funding issues that early-career philosophers often face, several paper sessions will be reserved for Skype presentations.
Information for Attendees
TRAVEL: The University of Tampa, located in the heart of downtown Tampa, is a convenient 15 minute drive from the airport. Aside from rental cars, taxis are the best method of transportation to and from the airport (cost is approximately $25 one-way by Taxi, less for Uber). There is also a bus route from the airport to the University of Tampa here.
LOCATION: The conference will be held in Plant Hall, the large building with minarets pictured above, and which is located on Kennedy Boulevard just off the Hillborough River. Check-in for the conference will be in Plant Hall 211, beginning at 9:00AM on Saturday the 14th.
