2000 SVT Contour

Purchased this 2000 SVT Contour as the third owner in 2017.  Last year for the SVT Contour with a total of 2150 made in 2000 and 1 of 386 made in Toreador Red.  Tan leather sport buckets.  Low 101K miles for the year and factory original which is very hard to find.  Only driven in nice weather and garaged in a climate controlled environment.  Has both of the only options available on the SVT Contour:  Power Moonroof and Single Disc CD player with Premium Sound.  This SVT drives and handles like new and is very fun to drive.  The sound from the V-6 Duratec engine with factory extrude honed dual intake manifold is intoxicating while running up gears through the 5 speed manual transmission – which cannot be found in many new cars today.

Engine is very powerful, runs strong with secondary valves operating properly and transmission shifts through gears like it should.  All vehicle accessories work including original Ford premium sound CD radio and power antenna.  Heat is hot, air conditioning is cold and all HVAC selection modes work.  Has typical oil gasket leaks for the age, but nothing but a few drops on the floor when stored for an extended time.  When I purchased the Contour in 2017 I went through the entire vehicle replaced everything that needed attention:

Ford Motorcraft MAX battery

Power Steering Pump (had small leak)

Bilstein OEM front and rear shocks (from the Ford Mondeo; Contour’s sister car in Europe) using original SVT springs as the original shocks were no longer available (still have originals)

Ford SVT brake rotors, front and rear (still have originals)

Ford SVT brake calipers, front and rear (still have originals)

Ford Motorcraft semi synthetic oil and filter

Tires have less than 1000 miles on them and are Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 in original size.  All glass including windshield is all original and free from substantial chips and any cracks. I have the intake manifold, valve cover, and oil pan gaskets that will go with the car.  The car tracks straight and is smooth on the highway.

The interior is in excellent condition and the leather is still nearly new for being 23 years old.  The only blemish in the seats is a small scratch in the top surface of the leather between the two bolstered seats in the rear.  The “E1” Contour – in which this car is – had a restyled dashboard that had an issue with separation of the vinyl top.  I installed the Ford recommended fix and also went through all the edges of the dash and applied 3M adhesive to ensure this car would never have the issue again.  Not many of these cars are left that have a dash in this condition.  All the original electronics and features work.  The speakers were replaced without any modifications with JBL’s.  I have the original Ford speakers that will go with the sale of the vehicle.

The exterior is in “driver” quality, considering the car is 23 years old.  The paint still shines and has a few nicks and scratches.  The bottom of the bumpers have the typical curb rash but can’t be seen when standing near the car.  The right side of the car was repainted and repaired during the previous ownership where there was light damage near the rear wheel well.  The previous owner also got caught in a light hail storm and there are a few light dents on the roof and trunk lid.  They could be taken out by a paintless dent service but I didn’t have the heart to remove the headliner as they are so light they never bothered me enough.

Selling the car to make room in the garage since I don't have much time to drive it in nice weather.  It has never been in the salt and rarely in the rain.  No rust on the underside tells the story which is usually which why you don't see these anymore on the roads.  Comes with owner's SVT portfolio, manual, tire warranty, roadside assistance guide, 2 original keys and keyless entry keyfobs.  Original SVT shocks, brake rotors, and calipers will be included with the sale if the buyer would like them.  I also have an extra NOS parking brake cable.

Below is an excerpt from the Ford SVT website with stats on the car when it was new:

The 2000 SVT Contour remained largely unchanged from the previous year. With Ford deciding to cancel production of the Contour model for sale in the USA after the 2000 model year, 2000 became the final year for the SVT Contour. The car still enjoys an enthusiastic following today.
