Plot Summary
The film begins with Johnny, an aspiring American singer, receiving a letter from a British law firm that informs him that his mother, an aging rock star whom he hasn't seen or heard from since he was 3 years old, has died in a helicopter accident. Johnny has been willed her castle and all of her property and money, but he must visit the actual estate, located in England, to claim these things. As he drives up to the castle, a lightning bolt hits a grave on the castle grounds, and a glowing sphere emerges.
As Johnny enters the building, he walks through a hall with several suits of armor. The suits come alive and begin attacking him when suddenly a demonic entity speeds in, destroys the suits and beckons Johnny further into the castle. Johnny stumbles on a room of instruments levitating and playing on themselves, and then walks into a great hall with an orb embedded into the ground that begins projecting the image of Johnny's mother. This segues into a rather lengthy musical number in which this holographic image sings an operatic song called 'Lane Navachi' while the cameras circle around her.
Suddenly, a demonic face appears in the fire. It is the Devil (referred to as "Mr. D"), who explains to Johnny that his mother sold her soul for her fame. Part of the agreement was that the devil could "not touch" Johnny, but now that she has died, Mr. D offers Johnny a similar agreement. Johnny declines, but is enticed to explore the castle further.
He encounters various horrors and traps, such as a giant spider web, a haunted library, a torture chamber, and a hall of mirrors. He also meets Mephisto, a skeletal demon who acts as Mr. D's right-hand man and tries to persuade Johnny to join them. Along the way, Johnny finds clues about his mother's past and learns that she was once a good person who loved him dearly, but was corrupted by fame and power.
The film culminates in a final showdown between Johnny and Mr. D in a cathedral-like room, where Mr. D reveals that he is actually Johnny's father and that he orchestrated his mother's death to lure him to the castle. He also shows him a contract that his mother signed with her blood, which states that if Johnny does not agree to sell his soul by midnight, he will die along with his mother. Johnny refuses to sign and tries to escape, but Mr. D unleashes his full fury and sets the castle on fire.
Johnny manages to reach the exit, but finds it locked. He then sees a ghostly figure of his mother holding a key and telling him to hurry. He takes the key and opens the door, only to find himself back at the entrance of the castle. He realizes that it was all a nightmare and that he has not yet entered the castle. He decides to leave and drives away from the estate, while the glowing sphere watches him from afar.

3D H-OU Format
3D H-OU (Horizontal over/under) is a format for displaying 3D video content on a 2D screen. It works by splitting the image into two halves, one above the other, each containing the left and right eye views respectively. The viewer then needs to wear a pair of polarized glasses that filter out the opposite eye view, creating a 3D illusion.
Imax Haunted Castle 3d Sbs 108020 is a video file of Haunted Castle in 3D H-OU format, which can be played on a VR device or a 3D TV. The file is a 1080p master from the official DVD, so the quality is not as good as the original IMAX projection, but the 3D effect is still impressive.
