A USB driver that allows your computer to recognize the cable. The driver can be downloaded from [here].
A programming software that allows you to set the frequencies and functions of the radio. The software is called CE-151, and it is designed for the EVX 534 and EVX 539 radios with the enhanced display. The software can be downloaded from [here].
Once you have all the items ready, follow these steps to program your Vertex EVX 534 radio:
Install the USB driver on your computer by following the instructions on the download page.
Connect the programming cable to the radio and to your computer. Make sure the radio is turned off before connecting the cable.
Launch the CE-151 software on your computer. You will see a window like this:
Select the COM port that corresponds to the programming cable. You can check this in the Device Manager of your computer.
Click on the "Read" button to read the current settings of the radio. You will see a progress bar indicating the reading process.
After reading the radio, you can modify the settings as you wish. You can change the frequency, power, squelch, scan list, channel name, signaling format, encryption key, text message, and other options. You can also copy and paste settings from one channel to another, or from one zone to another.
When you are done with editing the settings, click on the "Write" button to write them to the radio. You will see a progress bar indicating the writing process.
After writing the radio, disconnect the programming cable and turn on the radio. You can test the new settings by communicating with another radio or by using a frequency counter.
