Who Started Tidewater Community College?
Tidewater Community College was founded by Dr. T. Edward Temple in 1968.
Dr. T. Edward Temple, a visionary educator, established Tidewater Community College (TCC) with the goal of providing accessible higher education to residents of the Hampton Roads region in Virginia. His leadership and commitment to educational excellence laid the foundation for TCC's growth into a leading institution for two-year degrees, workforce training, and community engagement.
Prior to founding TCC, Dr. Temple served as the President of Thomas Nelson Community College, another institution within the Virginia Community College System.
