DIN EN 15800: A Standard for Cylindrical Helical Springs

Cylindrical helical springs are widely used in various mechanical and engineering applications, such as valves, switches, shock absorbers, and clutches. They are made of round wire and coiled into a helical shape. The quality and performance of these springs depend on several factors, such as the material, the dimensions, the load, the stress, and the fatigue resistance. Therefore, it is important to have a standard that specifies the quality requirements and test methods for cylindrical helical springs.

DIN EN 15800 is a European standard that defines the quality specifications for cold coiled compression springs made of round wire. It was published in 2009 by the German Institute for Standardisation (Deutsches Institut fÃr Normung) and is identical to EN 15800:2008. It supersedes the previous standard DIN 2095, which was withdrawn in 2009.
