Hitler is gone. The Nazis have surrendered.
The Japanese continue to fight, but the writing is on the wall. They, too are about to be defeated.
Employing the science of Albert Einstein, a scientist named Robert Oppenheimer has devised a nuclear weapon that can kill tens of thousands of people in an instant.
Scientists such as Albert Einstein have become very reluctant to support the use of this weapon
The question now isn't whether you will beat the Japanese, but HOW you will defeat them.
Option One: End the war conventionally, using invasion techniques that will put many American soldiers lives (and Japanese soldiers' lives) at risk.
Option Two: Use the new bomb and drop them on Japanese cities which should cause the Japanese to surrender expeditiously. This, of course, will result in the deaths of many Japanese civilians: elderly, infants, innocents.
Option Three: perhaps something else altogether?
DECISION: You must make a decision regarding the new technology offered by Oppenheimer: the Atomic Bomb. Should you end the war conventionally, risking American soldiers’ lives or should you end it expeditiously, with the knowledge that thousands of innocent civilians will be killed?
