What actually happened?: Robert Jackson began his opening statement against the Nazi leaders with the claim that they were "under God." The prosecutors leaned on a concept called "natural law," which alleges that God has put into all human beings laws in their conscience which condemn them when they commit atrocities. It is the same view held by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, and the same argument made by MLK in the Letters from the Birmingham Jail. Today the concept of "natural law" is highly philosophically debatable, but in 1946 widely accepted.
Did you make the same decision as Robert Jackson? If not, do you think your decision was better or worse than his?
