Albert Brunning purchased 90 acres of land called "the old Guth homestead" in news reports.  It is reported in the 1936 article that Brunning plans to sell lots of land and call the new area Sunnyland.

Miss Mary Italin retired after teaching at the primary school for sixty years.

Leroy Spring announced a new subdivision just west of the city limits, the first street called Court Drive.

This area endured its record streak of days with low temperatures at or below zero when it reached that mark eleven days in a row from January 22 to February 2.
