This is data in the form of words. These are often used to form groups or categories in a dataset.
Hence this is also called categorical data.
eg:
The heights of students in a basketball team were:
short, medium and tall.
This is data in the form of numbers. These are often values that have been measured.
Also called numerical data.
eg:
The heights of students (cm) in a group were:
147, 154, 167, 168, 170, 182, 190
This is data that you have collected yourself.
You will need a minimum sample size of 30.
If your investigation involved collecting and using primary data then:
Name and describe the variables that were collected/measured (include any units).
Include a brief description of how this was done (Does not need to be detailed. Bullet points is fine).
Describe what sources of sources of variation you anticipated and how you managed these.
(You need at least two different types).
This is data you have been given.
You will need a minimum sample of 100 for this type.
(If you are investigating a comparison question then this means each group must be 100).
