La variación ter que, haber (de/que) y deber (de) y sus valores modales en el gallego oral contemporáneo: una aproximación basada en el uso

Using quantitative, variationist methodology, we identify a correlation between genre, style, and sociophonetic variables as evident in the recent works of three female urbano artists. The results suggest that music genres utilizes sociolinguistic variation as an artistic index for genre-specific identities with real life correlations.

Daniel Amarelo is a graduate student and Spanish Instructor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese of the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a BA in Galician Language and Literature, with minors in General Linguistics and in Lusophone Studies & a MA in Secondary and Upper School Education - Language and Literatures (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain). His main research interests are critical and sociocultural linguistics, language and sexuality and Galician language. Also, he is an activist in defense of endangered languages.
