We Need Your Help

This is your opportunity to seek Gods face. It really depends on volunteers like you to engage. That's why 10 Days of Prayer needs you to make this happen. Every little bit helps!

Certain roles will need you to turn up an amount of time prior to the session (see role descriptions). Please try to arrive in time for being briefed for the session.

Please fill out the volunteer form (see HOW TO VOLUNTEER, below) to send your contact details and availability to our team who will then contact you.

With the exception of the Worship/PA/Projector teams no experience is necessary.

The tent will be manned by teams of volunteers from Reading churches including:

Volunteer Teams

Stewarding

Steward's should arrive 20 minutes before their session(s). Sessions are both afternoon and evening (volunteers choice). Experience not needed.

They will be tasked with:

• Welcoming
• Assisting less abled to seats
• Taking Collections
• Counting Collections & Passing collection to authorised daily banker
• Ensuring safe environment
• Chatting with guests (during daytime)
• Site security during daytime (and alerting if necessary)

Ministry Team

We are looking for teams of people for each session to pray with people for various things including personal situations, issues and healing. Please arrive for the evening sessions by 6:40PM to allow time to prepare ourselves in prayer. For those volunteering for daytime sessions please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before if possible (as we are expecting less during he afternoons you will be free to prepare yourselves on arrival).

Experience not necessary just a willingness to pray for those around them!

During the daytime it will involve talking to people and praying with those that would like to in an informal way. In the evening sessions you may be called upon as a team by the session leaders / speakers to pray with individuals.

Worship / PA / Projector

We are looking for people for the following roles (see below) and you should have the appropriate technical or musical skills and experience performing these tasks in your current or recent church.

• Worship Leaders to lead worship being directed by the Holy Spirit
• Other worship team members to sing or play instruments
• PA/Mixer Desk/Sound system
• Projector to project lyrics or slides

Please arrive by 6:20PM─6:30PM in time for a sound check OR AS DIRECTED by your worship team leader.

Housekeeping

We need a small team each session to ensure the environment is safe and clean. Please report 10 minutes before your session to the stewards.

• Keeping area clean & tidy, ensuring portaloos are regularly re-stocked with toilet paper & bleached (portaloos contracting company will be cleaning/emptying them).
• Safety checks … checking barrier is up around tent, no cables showing, tent pegs still in place
• Emptying litter bins

Setup Tent (Daytime 20th Sept) ─ need to be reasonably fit

We shall need people from around 9am to about 2pm and maybe a few for a little while longer if needed for any remaining finishing touches before evening.

We need 10-20 reasonably strong & fit people to erect the 18 metre tent in Forbury Gardens. When we get enough volunteers this section will dissapear. If it's still here we still need you!

Decoration Setup (2PM 20th Sept)

To arrive at 2pm to finish the decorations.

Pack Away Tent (27th Sept ) and Remove decorations

10AM ─ remove decorations and empty tent prior to the tent team putting away tent

NOON - 3PM ─ The tent will be packed away on the afternoon of the 27th starting around noon for 2─3 hours. We will need 10-20 reasonably strong & fit people to put down and pack away the tent.

How To Volunteer

To volunteer please click on this link and complete the volunteering form. These details will be collected for the administration of the volunteer teams. Details will be retained for the duration of the event and deleted afterwards.

In completing this form you agree for the organisers of 10 Days Of Prayer (Reading) to pass your contact details to the persons responsible for organising each team you have volunteered for and also to contact your Church Leader.

After the form is completed and we have coordinated with your church leader, you will be contacted by one or more team leaders about the volunteering opportunities and they will make arrangements for scheduling.

Time Involvement

The volunteer form separates out the afternoon from the evening sessions. Please indicate which sessions you can be available ─ please note you can place limitations in a box further down the form (allowing you to be 'available everyday' but limit the total sessions to 4 if you like)
