The primary mission of the organization is to create a philanthropic avenue for the women in Memorial to make a big impact in our community, with little time commitment. To bring together at least 100 women who will contribute financially over several times per year to local non-profits and make a difference in Memorial.
Since 2018, we have given back over $400,000 to our community through 100 Women of Memorial. Three times a year we are able to make a significant impact in our local charities. In 2023, we donated $69,900 back to our community through Blessings in a Backpack - Spring Branch, B.I.G. LOVE Cancer Care and Santa Maria Hostel. In 2024, we have donated $56,900 to Girls on the Run, Steel Magnolia Moms and Outreach Center of W. Houston.
It is simple. 100+ Women, that attend a 60 minute meeting three times a year and give $100 at each meeting to a local charity in the Memorial Area. Charities in Memorial or charities that serve Memorial may nominate themselves as beneficiaries. We will define Memorial as 77024, 77079 and 77055. Members may also nominate a charity. At each meeting, we will randomly select three charities from the nominations. Members will represent the charities and their need in a 5 minute presentation. The present membership will vote on the charity they would like the money to go to. The membership will then donate $100 to selected charity. Members will have 10 days to turn in their donation via online payment directly to the charity. We are not a 501 c – we don’t have to be. All money has to go to or through a 501 c and each charity commits to providing each member with a tax deductible receipt. Any charity in Memorial or serving Memorial is eligible. We do not give to National charities with the exception of National charities that have local chapters where we can guarantee the money will stay locally. Each charity will be vetted for legitimacy prior to each meeting.
