How does it work?
It's simple. 100 people (or more!) come together and each individual gives $100 quarterly to donate to a non-profit in the community. Members vote at each meeting for which non-profit they would like to donate to, and votes are tallied to determine a winner. 3 non-profits are chosen at each quarterly meeting to present their cause at the next meeting, and the cycle continues. $100 alone might not stretch as far, but each $100 pooled together makes a drastic difference.
About us
From a single lunch table in Jackson, Michigan, to now more than 800 active chapters across 49 states, Canada, and beyond, the 100 Who Care movement has grown to give over $56 million to local nonprofits that strengthen communities and change lives.
The Ellis County chapter began in 2025 after founder Brandy Ridgway attended a chapter meeting while visiting family in Great Bend, KS. She was inspired by the simplicity, efficiency, and impact of the model, a grassroots approach to philanthropy that makes giving both meaningful and accessible. She knew Ellis County needed this.
Brandy has called Ellis County home since 2002, when she came to Fort Hays State University. Raised in Dodge City by a single mother of five, she personally experienced the difference nonprofits can make. After marrying her husband, Jeff, in 2003, the couple chose to stay in Hays and raise their family here. Together, they enjoy spending time with their two sons, hosting international students, volunteering in the community, staying active in church, Scouts, and cheering on FHSU, HHS, and The Hays Larks.
Professionally, Brandy has served the community through the Wayne Voss State Farm agency since graduation. She is also pursuing her Kansas Real Estate Appraiser License and co-founded Praireland Appraisal with her aunt. As a busy wife, mother, professional, and business owner, Brandy understands how limited time and resources can be. That's what makes 100 Who Care so powerful: it allows people to come together, pool their giving, and make a lasting impact right here in Ellis County
