Downloading the Driver
The Merant 3.60 32-bit Progress SQL92 ODBC driver is part of the Progress DataDirect Connect for ODBC product, which can be downloaded from the Progress website. You need to register for a free account and fill out a form to request a trial license key. After you receive the license key via email, you can download the installer file for your operating system (Windows, Linux, or UNIX).
Installing the Driver
To install the driver on Windows, follow these steps:
Run the installer file and accept the license agreement.
Select the components you want to install. Make sure you select the Merant 3.60 32-bit Progress SQL92 v9.1D driver under the DataDirect Connect for ODBC Drivers option.
Enter the license key when prompted.
Choose the installation directory and click Next.
Click Install to start the installation process.
Click Finish when the installation is complete.
The driver will be installed in the directory you specified, and a new entry will be added to the ODBC Data Source Administrator under the System DSN tab.
Configuring the Driver
To configure the driver for a remote OpenEdge database, follow these steps:
Start the database server with the following command: proserve <database> -S <portnumber>
Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator and click System DSN.
Select the Merant 3.60 32-bit Progress SQL92 v9.1D driver and click Configure.
Enter a name for the data source and click Next.
Enter the hostname or IP address of the database server and the port number you used with -S.
Enter the database name and click Next.
Enter your user name and password if security is enabled for the database, or leave them blank otherwise.
Click Test Connect to verify the connection.
If the connection is successful, click OK to save the data source.
Your driver is now configured and ready to use with any ODBC-compliant application, such as WinSQL, MS Access, or Microsoft ODBC Test Utility.
