How a Serbian Heart Changed a German Man's Life: The True Story Behind "Srpsko Srce Johanovo"

Imagine waking up one day with a new heart beating in your chest. A heart that belongs to someone else. A heart that carries the memories, dreams and emotions of its original owner. A heart that connects you to a distant land, a different culture and a tragic history.

This is what happened to Johan Wagner, a wealthy German businessman who underwent a heart transplant in 2003. His new heart came from Jovan, a young Serbian man who was kidnapped in Kosovo in 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. Jovan was one of the many victims of the organ trafficking crimes committed by Albanian paramilitaries against Serbs in the "Yellow House" (Burelj, Albania), where they were tortured, killed and harvested for their organs.
