Qari Abdul Basit - The Legendary Reciter of the Quran

Qari Abdul Basit 'Abd us-Samad (1927  30 November 1988; Arabic: عبد الباسط عبد الصمد) was a well known Qari (reciter of the Quran). He was born in a small village called Armant in Egypt, and he learned the Quran from his father and other famous reciters. He had a unique and beautiful voice that captivated millions of listeners around the world. He is the only Qari to have won three world Qirat competitions in the early 1970s.

Qari Abdul Basit was famous for his recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha, the first chapter of the Quran. He recited it with such emotion and expression that it moved the hearts of the listeners. He also recited other chapters of the Quran with excellence and mastery, such as Surah Al-Rahman, Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Kahf, and Surah Yusuf. He had a special way of reciting the Quran that made it easy to understand and memorize.
