b. There are also hardware ouputs on the top right side, labeled A1 to A3. Here you can put your default output device on your speakers/headphones, so you can actually listen to the person you're talking to and get computer sound output to your speakers/headphones.
c. You'll also see here that there are two Virtual Inputs. If you set your computer's default output device to let's say "Voicemeeter Aux" and then choose A1 in Voicemeeter Banana you should get your normal computer sound back. See how that connects? So, for every input you select an output marked by either A1, A2, A3 or B1, B2. Now, B1 and B2 are virtual outputs, but we don't have to care about them for this use-case.
Thank you for these helpful instructions. I have everything set up as you described, and it works mostly as expected. The audio output from Audition sounds garbled and robotic when output with Voicemeeter Virtual ASIO as the device, though. It seems like the audio itself is fine. If I change the device to Focusrite USB ASIO (for my Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen), it seems to output good audio, even if the audio was recorded with the Voicemeeter Virtual ASIO device. So I'm thinking there's something wrong with how Audition is relaying the audio back to Voicemeeter and then to my Scarlett Solo for output. I'm not sure if the issue is in Audition, Voicemeeter, or somewhere else, though. Any idea what could be wrong?
I don't know what type of devices you get from your Focusrite, but I assume that it's seen in Voicemeeter and you can assign it as an input device? What you can also do is just to listen to yourself via Voicemeeter and see if that sounds ok or not. From your "hardware input device 1" in Voicemeeter you can just choose "A1" if that's your default speaker output and then you'll get the microphone sound in your speakers/headphones.
Thanks for the quick reply. Most of the time the actual recording is fine, but the output is garbled. If I play the recording from Audition with Voicemeeter Virtual ASIO set as the device in Audition, it's garbled, but if I play the same recording from Audition with a different device as output, it sounds fine. In both cases I'm using the same physical hardware (the Focusrite), but two different software "devices," Voicemeeter and the Focusrite driver.
Additionally, if I keep the same output device in Audition (Voicemeeter Virtual ASIO), with the same recording, it sounds fine if I change the Voicemeeter A1 output from "Focusrite USB ASIO" to "WDM: Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" to use my speakers. But if I change it back to "Focusrite USB ASIO" it's garbled again.
Greetings everyone!
Recently i started using Voicemeeter in my system, so that i can use ASIO without muting everything else.
Its been great so far, but I've been facing a few problems setting it up with Cakewalk, namely the driver settings.
After a lot of trial and error i managed to get it to work, retaining my ability to monitor my guitar without any noticeable stutter or crackling.
The guitar monitoring is optional, as i usually record it without monitoring anyway, but by using any other drivers i get a lot of audio glitches
But this brings me a second ASIO panel, other than the voicemeeter one, and i couldn't help but to wonder, is this optimal? I wonder as i usually can use ASIO without needing a second dedicated panel.
For context, i currently have no audio interface (i'll get one asap), so im using ASIO4ALL and plugging my guitar straight to the mobo, it is awful, i know, but i'm just working on compositions and the actual recording will happen with proper hardware.
But regardless of that, i just wanted to know if i'm not doing something wrong, and if my current settings are any good. I still don't understand voicemeeter and asio 100% so it all seems a bit confusing with CbB's device panel, as it is quite different from other programs i've setup.
Attached are pictures of my current working settings and the error i get if i try anything different on Cakewalk's panel.
Thank you for your attention and i deeply appreciate any input
Have a nice day,
Mev
edit: I didn't realize the images would come up in the post, i apologize.

I see, don't i need an ASIO capable device for that? I'm currently using the onboard realtek. Everything works great including other daws, but with cakewalk i start having some really annoying crackling and engine dropouts, if i choose any other driver, such as WDM its basically useless;
It usually works out well but on bigger projects the crackling becomes unbearable, which makes sense since i run two asio4all panels;
Voicemeeter gives me no ASIO option other than ReaRoute or Asio4all. Using WDM for my output makes it unusable;
I don't know a lot about how it works but i know i'm definitely doing something wrong
Voicemeeter is one of the most-used audio mixer applications, thanks to its ability to manage just about any audio source. However, some users are reporting an output device not working on Voicemeeter when they try to play or transmit audio.
Most users started getting the output device not working error on Voicemeeter after updating their computer. This is because the Windows update installed a faulty driver that is messing with their audio output.
With this solution, we can conclude this article on how to fix the output device not working error on Voicemeeter. You should now be able to fix the error effortlessly, provided you follow the solutions in this guide.
My problem is that on Windows 10, the bluetooth device doesn't connect automatically. There's no connect button to the settings too! Initially I had this automatically, but sometimes recently the bluetooth headphones don't connect automatically. And today after installing the voicemeter, I had to go to volumecontrol>(rightclick)>playbackDevices>kinivo(rightclick)>connect to connect to the bluetooth device! I believe uninstalling the voicemeter would re-enable the automatic connection. Although I need to stream three audio devices at once! If that's not possible (cause voicemeter only allows 2 outputs), then I'm good with just the speakers and headphones too!
I notice that your Bass and High Boost2.peace file doesn't contain a device selection setting so Peace selects "All devices" when loading this preset. As you mention the term "jumping back" it lets me believe you aren't understanding yet how things work. It doesn't jump back, it selects what's in the preset. So if the preset doesn't contain "VoiceMeeter Output, VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO" it selects the "All devices". So select the Bass and High Boost2, select Voicemeeter output and the save it again overwriting thid preset with the right device selection. For convience I've attach your preset with the Voicemeet output already in your preset file.
Edit: On your image virtual output B (Voicemeeter Output device) wasn't selected for the microphone. If you select Voicemeeter Output as device and the mic isn't linked to it then any change like pre amp does nothing (although it's strange it did something. On my laptop I got the same result but in my I did route my mic to virtual output B.
Anyway, perhaps you can let Peace change your mic directly instead of changing the virtual B output (Voicemeeter Output). For a good tutorial you may watch this video.
Yepp it did: just restarted the program, which updated itself for some reason, reset to default settings, which gave me back my options, then chose the API and Device according to the input and output device in Voicemeeter.
I started using Voicemeteer Banana just yesterday. I set up all the output and input devices but I have one problem. When I set Voicemeeter Input as my default playback device, the media keys on my keyboard except the mute button don't seem to affect the volume. What settings should I modify so that I can control the volume with the media keys on my keyboard?
For Discord, you can set the output device in the settings, selecting VoiceMeeter Aux Input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter AUX VAIO), note the AUX notation. Spotify does not have the option to select the output device, but you can force this to an output device, a VAC in this case.
On another note, would you mind sending us more details about the audio output device you're trying to set such as the make/model? Is this happening when trying to use other apps when said device is set as the audio output?
Lastly, and just to confirm, has the app always been behaving like this or does it start to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? Please send us the details about it.
My windows default output is set to a virtual output from the application "Voicemeeter Banana" which passes the audio through to my Fiio "E10K Olympus 2" DAC. If I set Spotify to output directly to the DAC, spotify is unable to play any song (downloaded or streaming). Although when the DAC is set to the windows default output, spotify has no issues using it as its output device. The same issue also occurs if the windows default output is the DAC and I try setting Spotify to output through voicemeeter.
