National Level Raman Awards
Basanagouda Patil is a bright and dedicated young scientist whose passion for exploring the wonders of physics has earned him selection for the National-Level Raman Award 2025 — a highly esteemed recognition of excellence in scientific inquiry among young learners in India.
Driven by curiosity and a strong interest in understanding light and colors, Basanagouda designed and demonstrated an insightful experiment titled “Rainbow Forming with a Mirror Immersed in Water.” His work stood out for its simplicity, scientific depth, and clear demonstration of physical principles.
🔬 About the “Rainbow Forming” Experiment
In his experiment, Basanagouda used a mirror placed at an angle inside a container of water to refract and reflect sunlight, creating a visible spectrum — a rainbow — on a nearby surface. Through this setup, he beautifully illustrated how light disperses into its constituent colors when it passes through water and reflects off surfaces at specific angles.
His clear explanation of how the interaction between light, water, and reflective surfaces produces a spectrum showcased not only his grasp of optical phenomena but also his ability to communicate science in an engaging and accessible way
D Yaksha Jain is an exceptional young scientist whose passion for innovation and hands-on experimentation has earned her selection for the National-Level Raman Award 2025 — one of the most prestigious recognitions for young researchers in science in India.
From an early age, Yaksha displayed a keen curiosity about how things work and a strong drive to explore scientific concepts beyond textbooks. Her dedication and creativity culminated in the development of a unique experiment titled “Paper Moving Model”, which captured the attention of judges at both regional and national levels.
🔬 About the “Paper Moving Model” Experiment
In her project, Yaksha designed a simple yet powerful demonstration that explores the principles of energy transfer and motion. Using only basic materials — primarily paper and lightweight components — she illustrated how controlled inputs of force and angles can create continuous motion. Her model not only showcased a deep understanding of physics but also highlighted innovative thinking in making science accessible and engaging.
