Village Financial Empowerment Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Huntsville, Alabama.
Our mission is to provide free tax-preparation assistance, financial-literacy education, and community-empowerment resources to underserved individuals and families.
Free Community Tax Assistance
We are preparing to offer free tax-preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program during the 2027 tax season. Trained and IRS-certified volunteers will assist eligible individuals and families with preparing their federal and state income-tax returns.
Dates, locations, eligibility information, and appointment details will be announced as they become available.

Help us expand access to free, high-quality tax-preparation services in the Huntsville community. Volunteers are needed for the 2027 tax season in several roles:
Tax preparers
Quality reviewers
Greeters and taxpayer assistants
Administrative and site-support volunteers
Outreach, scheduling, and community-engagement volunteers
Prior tax-preparation experience is not required for every position. Volunteers serving as tax preparers or quality reviewers must complete the applicable IRS training and certification. We welcome dependable, community-minded individuals who are committed to professionalism and protecting taxpayer privacy.
