Hiring, Allocation, and Compensation practices

VASD principals worked with staff to ensure that all hiring, placement, and staffing decisions were based on student needs. This "equity-based allocation" process helps ensure that the structures of school are designed in ways that prioritize student needs.

VASD staff worked in partnership with Verona's unions (VAEA and VESPA) throughout the year to come to ensure competitive compensation as well as best practices for hiring and retention. This partnership was particularly important given the reduced state funding and increase in living expenses due to inflation.
