What are we learning?

This year we will be exploring American history from 1565 to present. Some of the highlights include:

  • The colonial period
  • American Revolution
  • United States Constitution
  • Westward expansion
  • The Civil War and Reconstruction
  • and more!

How will we be learning?

We will explore the building of our nation through an assortment of learning methods. Some of these methods include:

  • Individual work
  • Using technology (Chromebooks, Online activities, etc.)
  • Collaborative learning in pairs and small groups
  • Research and investigations
  • Interactive notebooks
  • Games and projects
  • and so much more!

When are we learning it?

Over the year we will be surveying American history in chronological order. See the brief overview below for each of the 6 six-weeks.

  1. Ancient Americans through the French and Indian War
  2. The American Revolution through the early years after the creation of the U.S. Constitution
  3. Westward Expansion, Civil War and Reconstruction, and overseas expansion
  4. Industrialization, immigration, and the Progressive Era
  5. World War I, The Great Depression, and World War II
  6. The Cold War, Civil Rights, and American life today
