Executive Summary: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Overview and Implementation
Venture For America is committed to prioritizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in all of our programs and stands solidly with the Black community and all People of Color. While VFA has taken many steps over the past year to become an onramp to entrepreneurship for underrepresented communities, we partnered with Yardstick Management to conduct a full audit on VFA’s DEI practices. This work will culminate in a report highlighting VFA’s short and long-term opportunities for growth in each department. The VFA Team recently received a list of demands, requests, and recommendations from the Rise Leads on how VFA can better support Communities of Color and in particular stand in solidarity with the movement for Black lives. Members of the VFA Team are working to combine the recommendations from Yardstick and Rise Leads into a single strategic plan that will be finalized by the State of VFA in early August.
While there will be multiple opportunities for Rise Leads, Team members, and other stakeholders in our community to contribute to this work, we want to provide an executive summary of the DEI-related work that each department has been prioritizing and is considering implementing. While this list is fairly comprehensive, it is not exhaustive of all actions we have taken, are taking, or are considering.
