Student Assistance Program (SAP) in VUSD

SAP Counselors are school counselors who focus on supporting students' social and emotional needs in the school setting according to the professional standards and competencies outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

Brief Risk Reduction Intervention and Interview Model (BRRIIM)

Redleaf TM

90-minute structured student and family conference to identify areas of strengths and opportunities for growth in the school context, and assistance with resources beyond school, in the local community.

Brief Intervention

Brief intervention (BI) consists of structured face-to-face, student-centered, non-judgmental meetings, consisting of 2-4 counseling sessions of short duration (typically 30 minutes). Based on harm reduction, BI aims to reduce a person's substance consumption or support complete abstinence.

About Mr. Jordan

Mr. Jordan is beginning the 20/21 school year as a SAP Counselor at El Camino and Foothill Technology High Schools after serving as VUSD's SAP Counselor at the middle school level, and as an elementary school counselor the previous 4 years. Mr. Jordan is a PPS credentialed school counselor and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, registered in the State of California, APCC #6065.
