Hello. My name is Kristin Stehly. I was born and raised in Escondido. I went to Cal Poly SLO for my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in kinesiology and health. Here at VCMS I teach 8th and 6th Grade PE. I am also the Athletic Director and coach the cross country with Mr. Broomell. I started teaching PE in 2001 in Escondido and have been here at the middle school since 2014.
I have had a passion for fitness and health since I was in middle school. I even used to have my friends over and do workout classes in my garage for them. I currently teach classes at a local gym and am a personal trainer/nutrition coach outside of teaching here at the middle school. I have completed 35 full marathons, but no longer run long distances. These days I enjoy lifting weights and walking my dogs.
I have twin boys that go to Valley Center High School. We currently live in Escondido. I have a house full of animals including three awesome pug mix dogs, three cats, a parrot and lots of tortoises and birds that are outdoors.
I love to read, workout, coach clients, walk my dogs, hang out with my family, and do puzzles. I also love sock monkeys, the Muppets, and cute coffee mugs.
My goal for my students is to help them find activities, sports, and ways to be active that they love and can continue throughout their lives to help live a healthy, active lifestyle. Each individual can be successful and I want them to know they can learn new skills and make choices to be their best self.
