Global Perspectives Scholarship

James W. Lewis High School Global Leader 2026

The James W. Lewis Global Leader Scholarship has been established to encourage and recognize young leaders who exemplify the values to which Mr. Lewis has dedicated his life and work:

Future You Scholarship

The 2026 Future You Scholarship is available to high school seniors, vocational students, college students, or graduate students who are legal residents of the United States. You must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two to four year post-secondary institution, have a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher and submit a 750-1,000 word essay response to the prompt provided by the sponsor in order to be considered for this award.

Eligibility

• The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student, or graduate student. Students must be legal residents of the United States, residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. 

• Candidates must be enrolled in a vocational program or two to five year post-secondary institution.

• Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.

How to Apply and Eligibility

• Submit your essay under 500 words using our Scholarship Application Form.

• You must be a current student in an eligible undergraduate program or a graduating high school senior in the U.S., working towards a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree. If you are currently applying to colleges, you can submit your current school or a college you are applying to, however if you are selected, you must be able to provide proof of enrollment or acceptance at an elligible institution. 

• You must apply using your school email address. If your school does not provide one or does not allow students to send/receive external emails via the school-affiliated email address, then you may still apply using your personal email. If your essay is selected, we will then reach out to verify your eligibility via a PDF file of your acceptance letter or proof of enrollment in the Undergraduate or Associate’s program. If you do not believe you will have this by the time decisions are made, you should hold off applying until you will be able to provide the necessary information. Dr. Pepper Scholarship 

Due: September 30, 2026

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 at the time of application submission.

Make and submit a video that helps us get to know you. Tell us about your academic goals, professional aspirations, or even personal dreams. Your video will be judged on the four following criteria: career goals, need for tuition assistance, impact of tuition assistance, and overall presentation quality and delivery. It must be 60 seconds or less and in MP4, MOV, WMV format.

Be passionate, be creative, be you.

Finalists selected to compete to win up to $100,000 in tuition will compete for tuition dollars at the following games:

• ACC Game Site: ACC Championship Game in Charlotte, NC, at Bank of America Stadium on December 6, 2025

2026 Sam's Legacy: Fighting to End Drunk Driving Scholarship

Eligibility

• The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student, or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and who is enrolled in a vocational program or a two to four-year post-secondary institution.

• Employees of John Fisher, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to participate in the competition. 

• Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing

Application Requirements

• The candidate must submit a 500-750-word essay response to the prompt: Describe innovative and effective educational, legislative, and enforcement strategies that could reduce drunk driving.

  • Please note that all essays will be checked for AI writing. If AI-generated writing is detected in the essay, the application will be denied.

• A professional resume detailing the candidate’s academic and professional experiences must be submitted.

• The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students can submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.

• Preference will be given to students either from or attending secondary school in the state.

The Gates Scholarship

Due: September 15, 2026

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 at the time of application submission.

Award

Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the Student Aid Index, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university.

*Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, books, housing and food, and may include additional personal costs. 

Basic Eligibility

• To apply, students must be:

  • A high school senior

  • Pell-eligible

  • A US citizen or permanent resident

  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) 

• Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.

Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate will have:

• An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)

• Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)

• Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

Due: September 30, 2026

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the addition of the 2026 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 7,200 Coke Scholars nationwide with over $90 million in scholarships as it celebrates 40 years of impact since its founding in 1986. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

Who is eligible for the Anidjar & Levine Scholarship?

Our $2,500 scholarship is available to students who meet the following criteria.

• Students currently enrolled in or formally accepted to an accredited U.S. community college, college, or university undergraduate or graduate degree program.

• Applicants should have a history of serving their community in a volunteer role.

• Applicants must currently be in good academic standing and provide transcripts to support a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship

Voice of Democracy is an audio-essay program that provides high school students grades 9 through 12 with the unique opportunity to express themselves regarding a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay.  This year’s theme is: "What a Veteran Taught Me About America.”  

Each year, nearly 25,000 9th through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the Voice of Democracy program. The national first place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college, or vocational/technical school.

Making An Impact Scholarship

Due: Novemeber 1, 2027

The Making an Impact Scholarship is for students wishing to continue their education and reward them for the volunteer work they have done. Whether you helped clean up trash from a park, prepped food for the homeless, or donated your time at a hospital, we want to hear from you and recognize you for your good works. Through our $1,500 scholarship, we hope to encourage you to continue your education and your efforts at helping your local community.

Eligibility for the Making an Impact Scholarship

To apply for the Making an Impact Scholarship, simply complete the application form on this page. You will need to include a 1,000-to-1,500-word essay describing your volunteer project. We would like to hear how your project impacted your community, your plans for school, and how you are going to continue your work on making a difference in your community.

Applicants must also meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the (dollar) award:

• GPA of at least 3.0

• Admitted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the U.S.

• OR Enrolled in an accredited high school in the U.S. (AND admitted to an accredited college)

• Proof of enrollment or acceptance into accredited institutions

• An unofficial transcript showing your GPA as well as proof of your acceptance or enrollment in an accredited institution with your application.

Chik-fil-A Community Scholar

Due: Novemeber 3, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

• Be a resident in the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada.

• Be a postsecondary undergraduate or graduate student or planning to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the 2026-2027 academic year.

• Be recommended by a teacher, coach, community leader or mentor, addressing the applicant’s personal and/or professional achievement. Up to three recommendation letters will be accepted.

• Show demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application. You will be asked to share in what ways you were able to make an impact on your community, friends and family.

• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Academic awards and recognition will be considered. Applicants are required to upload a transcript that displays their name, school name, classes taken and GPA.

• Demonstrate financial need.

• Not be employed at a Chick-fil-A® restaurant or Chick-fil-A, Inc. at the time of application or the dependent or spouse of a Chick-fil-A, Inc. Employee or Operator.

National Honor Society Scholarship

Due: Novemeber 20, 2026

To be eligible, a student must be:

• A high school senior and/or expecting to receive a high school diploma during the current academic year.

• An active member in good standing of a National Honor Society chapter, meeting all membership requirements and obligations of the local chapter.

• An NHS student account holder, verified by the NHS chapter adviser.

• Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. college or university, military institute, or trade school.

Note: There are no limits to the number of applicants per chapter.

Kanoski Bresney Stand up to Distracted Driving Scholarship

Due: Novemeber 9, 2026

Distracted driving, including due to texting and other cell phone use, is a serious issue that leads to hundreds of thousands of accidents and injuries in the United States each year. The problem is especially prominent among teen and young adult drivers, and teens are also at a greater risk of being the victim of a distracted driving accident.

At Kanoski Bresney, we want to support students who do their part to fight the problem of distracted driving. Through the Kansoki Bresney Stand Up to Distracted Driving Scholarship program, we are offering five scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 each, to students in the U.S. who are pursuing higher education at the undergraduate or graduate level.Who is Eligible to Apply?

• You are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited U.S. college or university, and your education will continue through at least the Fall 2025 semester.

• You are a high school senior who will be starting your college or university education in Fall 2027 or Spring 2026.

• You are a U.S. citizen.

• You have a current overall GPA of at least 3.0.

James Alan Cox Foundation for Student Photojournalists 

Due: November 15, 2026

• Five (5) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to five (5) college or technical school students, payable to their school. Four awards will be for video work while one will be for still photography.

• One (1) $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to one (1) graduate student, payable to their school, for video work.

• Five (5) Digital SLR Cameras will be awarded to five (5) high school students. (High school applicants should only submit still photographs. The video awards are for college and graduate students only.)

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship 

Due: November 12, 2026

Most Valuable Student Contest: The 2027 MVS application is now open. Applications can be found online at enf.elks.org/MVS. The application deadline is November 12, 2026.

The Elks National Foundation awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. National awards range from $1,000 to $7,500 per year. The national awards will be announced in April 2027. Local judging will begin December 2, 2026; applicants chosen will be forwarded to the state.

MVS scholarships are for high school seniors who plan to pursue a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university starting in 2027-28. Some important applicant details include:

• Current high school seniors (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.

• Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.

• Male and female students compete separately.

Applicants select from a list of the Lodges closest to their home address zip code. Please have your students choose Houma Elks Lodge #1193 as their sponsoring Lodge. It should be the closest to their zipcode Complete details can be found at enf.elks.org/MVS.

An Elks scholarship is more than financial aid; it’s an invitation to a network of service-minded peers and a promise that an Elks Lodge is always there with open arms.

The following scholarships have deadlines in December.

Common App Scholarship 

Due Decembern 15, 2026

To be eligible for the Common App Scholarship, a student must:

A) Be in Grade 11 or Grade 12

B) Be attending college or university no later than October 1, 2027

C) Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year

D) Answer ONE of the essay prompts

For the December 2026 deadline, the Common App Scholarship committee will award a total of $2,000 to three scholarship winners:

• One student will receive a $1,250 award 

• One student will receive a $500 award

• One student will receive a $250 award

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet the eligibility requirements.

Price Benowitz Scholarship 

Due: Feburary 28, 2027

Eligibility

• The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and who is enrolled in a vocational program or two to four year post-secondary institution for the 2025-2026 school year.

• Employees of Karin Riley Porter Criminal Defense Attorney and Price Benowitz LLP, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to participate in the competition.

• Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.

Application Requirements

• The candidate must fill out the form below with all necessary information

• The candidate must submit a 750-word essay response to the prompt: What are some significant challenges people with disabilities encounter regularly? What are some practicable public policies that could address these challenges? Feel free to speak about the challenges you have experienced or witnessed in a loved one’s life.

• Please note that all essays will be checked for AI writing. If AI writing is deemed present in the essay, the application will be denied.

• The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic.

• The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. High school students can submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

• Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States

• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States

• Demonstrate financial need ($100,000 or lower household income)

• Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

• Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

• Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0

• Be a United States citizen
