October 2018

  • Fifth graders have been using various resources to support learning such as: Junior Great Books, Jacob's Ladder, William and Mary literature units, and Science Court.
  • In language arts the cluster classes grappled with the big ideas of Honesty and Integrity with a story called, No Guitar Blues. A Socratic Seminar format was used to discuss this story. They also read about the Great Depression and then used a TABA strategy to generate ideas on how their lives are more privileged than children who grew up during this time in history. This was lead-in activity to our novel study Esperanza.
  • The class is also completing a Science Court based on matter.
