Astro Futures Lab

The Astro Futures Lab is a before school program at Alanton Elementary School. The purpose of this program is to introduce students, in grades 1-5, to the field of computer science and promote an interest in computer coding, robotics and other areas in the computer science field.

Each month a different grade level will be invited to participate in the Astro Futures Lab. The club will meet each Wednesday from 7:45 am until 8:20 am in the Alanton Learning Commons. Participation will be limited to the first 25 students in each grade level that register.

Students will participate in one of three activities based on their interests.

2. Programming Robots - Using Blockly-based coding

3. Green Screen Production

How to register your child?

Parents may register their child up to one week before a specific grade level session begins. Registering your child to attend confirms that they will attend all four sessions for that specific grade level. The registration forms are set to close once the group max of 25 students per grade level have been registered. Parents will receive a confirmation email to confirm their child's registration and provide additional information about the Astro Futures Lab program.
