Reaper’s Moon

Sometimes everything in life seems to fall apart. After Uncle Jack's untimely death, 12 months ago, everything changed for the Smith family. Sarah's grief for her brother's death stymied her creativity, resulting in a severe case of writer's block. Alice's college work suffered, and she dropped out half way through the year. The twins started having trouble in school, Ben becoming more morbid and removed, and Claire getting in more and more fights. Tom watched his wife and children fall apart and felt powerless. Just when they thought things couldn't get worse, it emerged that they would have to sell the house. Jack had been hiding his mounting debt, the entire time they had lived with him.

Sometimes everything in life seems to line up. When the Smith family found the “Smythe Farm” for sale at a surprisingly low price, they pounced on it. It just felt right. A vacancy for Tom, teaching in the local elementary school, and an unattached house for Sarah, to use as her personal study. Alice's new university would only be two hours away, she would easily be able to visit on weekends, once the new academic year rolled in. It was a chance for the twins to start over in a new school, it was a fresh start for everyone really.

Every sleepy southern town has its own history, but sometimes you reap what others sow.
