van Asch Deaf Education Centre and Kelston Deaf Education Centre are two centres that work together with families and the Deaf community to provide equitable and coordinated Deaf education so that Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HH) students contribute meaningfully to their communities; are socially well-integrated in society; and are able to determine their future and fulfil their dreams.
The aim of this camp is to bring the Deaf and HH students together for the purpose of learning from each other, every day, for five days. Our objective is to see young Deaf and HH students find an increased sense of of belonging and create cherished memories to take home. Participation in the activities at the camp will work towards developing confidence in young people and this website will cover that aspect and preparations for the camp.
We thank the New Zealand Sign Language Board, they have generously offered funds to cover the cost of camp for a number of Deaf and HH students enrolled in high schools around Aotearoa New Zealand.
