The following poster will be up on the wall of the classroom and is self-explanatory. The rules are basic, nobody can force a student to make decisions, we will document poor decision making.
The rules are there to ensure that all students have an opportunity to learn and to train you in proper workplace behaviors. You may think taking your hat or hood off is silly, but when you enter the workplace there will likely be rules for dress that you will have to follow. Not following these guidelines could lead to being fired.
How we behave with our friends is often different from how we behave at church or in front of grandma. Once you learn to treat your school classroom as a place of work, you will find that things go easier. There is a time and place for certain language or dress. We don't want to take away your freedoms, but there must be a standard that we all follow so we can work together in peace.
We will use the school discipline policies in our classrooms by following the sequential discipline procedures.
Non-immediate removal actions like gum, refusing to work, profanity, sleeping, etc., will follow the steps below:
Warning (Low-Level Referral)
Behavioral Clarification with Call Home (Low-Level Referral)
Behavioral Clarification, Call Home, E-Mail to Counselor (Low-Level Referral)
Behavioral Clarification, Call Home, Teacher Detention (Low-Level Referral)
Behavioral Clarification, Call Home, 1-Hour After School Detention (Office Referral)
All future infractions for that specific behavior will result in After School Detentions
