Google Classroom was running a trial of some new features this fall that are now full-time members of the Google Suite. In Google Classroom you can now add a rubric to your assignment.
The rubric feature can be a great way to let kids know what your standards are, and make it very easy for you provide grades and feedback.
Watch the video below to see how you can use rubrics to make your school life easier.
The Originality Report is a new feature in Classroom that checks to see if plagiarism is an issue in a Google Doc.
Teachers and students can both run the report, but students are limited in the number they can access.
Below you see what the student and teacher views look like. The teacher view shows that there are eight flagged passages, and shows where the student found that material in question.
Again, for Originality Reports to work the assignment has to be distributed using Google Classroom.
Instead of just using notes, try getting information to students by creating 'hotspots' on an image. When students click on the do they can find information that YOU want them to have. Teachers can also add hyperlinks to the web, PDFs, videos, etc. to get even more info to students.
Vallivue School District does many things to support its staff.
My job is to help you implement technology in your classroom to be effective and impactful for your students.
Please contact me with your tech questions or help requests. If I don't know the answer I can always find one, or point you in the direction of someone who can.
Yesterday afternoon (Jan. 22nd) there was a service interruption between the district and Google Drive. Those of you that use Drive File Stream to access Google Drive from your desktop might still be experiencing a lack of connectivity today.
If you look in the taskbar (usually at the bottom of your screen) next to the speaker icon you'll see an 'up arrow'. Click that to show hidden icons. Click the Google Drive logo. If there has been a disconnection it will have a blue button that asks you to Sign In. After doing that, things should be back to normal.
In the January Monthly Newsletter many of you responded with your ideas for how you could use some of the tools presented. The winner for the coffee raffle from those responses is...
ROSE MCDONALD from Desert Springs Elementary.
Thanks to all who read the newsletter and responded.
