At UWS, we are here for our students. This is also reflected in the various support mechanisms we have in place - from funding advice to counselling.
This page introduces you to a number of UWS services, while also explaining how we support the students on our programmes through Personal Tutoring.
Personal Tutors are here to help you succeed with your studies and beyond:
provide academic, pastoral and developmental support and guidance;
provide guidance in relation to your studies, employability, and support you in overcoming any issues out-with university;
oversee your engagement, and intervene if and when necessary.
How does Personal Tutoring work?:
Individual meetings as per REQUEST by the student to discuss progress, success, goals as well as potential concerns and issues;
Referral to most appropriate person/team where applicable, including funding advice, effective learning and careers.
Every student should be able to experience the full range of the university’s activities. If you have a disability, a long-standing medical condition or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, the Disability Service can help you make the most of your time at UWS.
Here at UWS, we have introduced SilverCloud, an online service that gives you secure, immediate access to interactive CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) modules.
Programmes include: Space from Stress, Space from Anxiety, Space from Depression, and Space for Positive Body Image.
It’s easy to use, interesting and motivational. Access it anywhere on your computer, tablet or mobile.
What are they?:
The workshops provide you with a fundamental understanding of academic writing and referencing to help you to succeed in your degree.
Who are they for?:
The workshops are targeted at all students.
