Lisa D. Blalock, Ph.D.

About Me

I am a Professor of Psychology at the University of West Florida. I received my Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Colorado State University. Before Colorado, I earned my B.S. in Psychology at the University of Central Florida in Orlando where I grew up.

Currently, I teach Research Methods I, Professional Development in Psychology, Memory & Cognition, and Sensation & Perception. I have also taught lab courses in cognitive psychology and applied cognitive psychology.

Broadly speaking, my research focuses on how people process visual and spatial information as well as how those processes are used in real-world environments. I am particularly interested in how expertise or prior knowledge can help performance in cognitive tasks. I also do work on training to help build expertise.
