Pian Vane is an adventurous jazz pianist, composer, and music teacher with a love for music that transcends genre boundaries and includes influences from R&B, pop music classical music, and Oriental folk music. Her compositions are about storytelling and sharing her life experiences and emotions. Currently, her main influences are Brad Mehldau, Hiromi Uehara, Aaron Parks, Oscar Peterson,and John Scofield. These artists led her to develop a deep love for almost cinematic compositions, strong melodies, emotional playing, groove, and authenticity.
In 2011, She won a Golden Award at Singapore International Culture and Art Festival. In the same year, she begins her Classical Piano Performance & Art Management bachelor studies at XingHai Conservatory of Music. In the meanwhile, she got invited to play in the “大人” concert with a pop musician Pam Chuang.
She had her first experience with jazz music whilst attending a concert of John Scofield in 2013, which opened her mind to a whole new world of sounds and artists.
In 2016, she spent 4 years making a transition from Classical to Jazz in Maastricht Conservatorium. During her bachelor studies, Frank Giebels was her mentor and teacher. In 2019, Pian Vane created her original music quartet - Micro Oxygen. This project has been active in the Limburg jazz scene and performed on stages like Jazzout Fest Limburg (sharing stage with Cory Wong and Gallowstreet), Chique Festival, JazzContest Mechelen, Jazz Shanghai, Les Temps Mêlés, aftershow for Enrico Pieranunziʼs trio. Besides playing for her own quartet, she is also working as a session musician in other music projects. For example, a Pop/Jazz/Folk fusion project with Alessa Knur for “God is good”, an experimental Jazz/Pop project with Sara Wittazscheck and a Jazz/Pop project with Philipe Reul. Currently, she is continuing her music career while studying for her master degree in specialized composing and performance at Maastricht Conservatorium.
Her current tutors are Jesse Passenier, Wolfgang Braun, and one of her main musical influences, Aaron Parks.
