Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I'm really interested in experimental physics, especially condensed matter physics. I think magnets are awesome, so I'm particularly drawn to magnetism and magnetic materials.
Q: What are your other interests?
I enjoy art and printmaking. I love intaglio printmaking, which involves using chemicals to etch onto copper plates. I also love cooking and baking. I'm a big fan of key lime pie, both eating and making it.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
After college, I would like to earn a Ph.D. in physics. I'm not totally sure what path I'll take after that, but I'd love to continue doing research.
Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself?
I have a twin sister, and we were supposed to be born on Christmas, but I actually broke the water early (still not sure what I was thinking, unfortunately). So, we ended up arriving on November 12th instead. I think I did us a huge favor.
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
I've always been curious about how things work and wanted to understand the world better. When I was a kid, I found space and magnets really weird and fascinating, and that got me into physics. I love that studying physics helps me explore the things I'm curious about.
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
An Ewok because they seem fun to hang out with and are cute.
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
I would travel around the world and bring a sketchbook to draw and paint in different places. Along the way, I'd visit as many print shops as possible and spend a lot of time printmaking. And of course, there would be a lot of good food involved too.
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything, what would it be?
I would study materials and things that look interesting or pretty under a microscope, like magnetic domains, because then I could make art inspired by their patterns and kill two birds with one stone.
