Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I’ve been doing research in AMO – I like the intricacies involved in an optics lab and find smaller-scale physics more engaging. The research I do at school is related to thermalization, which is interesting to think about since the factors that determine whether a system thermalizes can be so specific. This summer I’m doing research related to quantum computing and can’t wait to learn more about it!
Q: What are your other interests?
I like drawing, and I find going to art museums very calming and inspiring. I’m also in my college orchestra and love going to see the Philadelphia Orchestra with my friends! Finally, I’m double majoring in physics with French; I like languages, and my French classes give me the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of subjects.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
I’m not too sure yet; I’ll probably go to grad school and keep studying AMO.
Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself?
My extended family has a relic from a quasi-saint that they fly around the country in times of trouble.
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
My 6th grade science teacher showed us a video about spacetime, and I thought it was fascinating! I thought I wanted to study astrophysics for a while, but in college I realized I’d rather do research on something that can be found here on Earth.
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
Probably just a really big, fluffy, snuggly dog.
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
I’d go on adventures all over the world with my friends!
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything, what would it be?
I don’t have too much of an idea of what I would like to research specifically in the future, but I really enjoy the research we do in my lab at college with ultracold Rydberg atoms, so I would use that grant for my research there. The computer I use to take data is very old and sometimes crashes, so maybe I would get a new one...
